We have a 91 civic hatch race car with a battery disconnect that we use to disconnect the battery whenever we work on it, transport it, or store it between races. Are we somehow screwing up the ECU by disconnecting the battery all the time?
"not at all"
Great, that's what we wanted to hear.
"Really only affect idle since it doesn't have short or long term trims if you use closed loop."
Not a problem since when it is running, it is living life in the fast lane. We either have the gas or the brakes mashed pretty hard.
"you really are only effecting long term fuel.
not else should be effected."
This also isn't an issue, since fuel economy isn't even on the radar as far as what we are thinking about when we are in it.
I don't think OBD0 has a "long term" fuel trim anyway, just a short term trim
