Default Neptune vs S300

So i'm just wondering how well Neptune and Demonboard stacks up against the S300 and sManager. I already have a chipped ECU b/c i'm running Crome and burning chips, and really want a RTP, and IIRC the demon board can be installed on that setup whereas the s300 won't.

As far as features, are they comparable to the sManager? I've played with the Hondata once and it was quite impressive. Plus, Neptune/DB combo is cheaper.

eCtune man! I think it's cheaper than neptune and has great software support. But waiting for your liscense could take a while or longer than expected.

The S300 requires a different socket adapter then what your running now. You would have to desolder the chip socket and solder in the Hondata piece. I would go Neptune or ECtune for sure. They are about the same price.

S300 is a trash product. It doesn't control ignition timing correctly, just watching the ignition timing drift all over the place when "locked" makes me roll my eyes. Improvements and upgrades for Hondata's OBD1 Honda software has pretty much been abandoned for a few years now since K-series became their meal ticket. Besides, they have glossy advertisements in magazines which is all that is required for the uninformed to line up and purchase it.

There have been a couple back to back comparisons of S300 to eCtune where a given car makes more power at less boost due to stock ignition correction code being removed from eCtune, and Neptune is structured similarly. I am an eCtune authorized tuner, and it is what I stand behind and recommend, but I can't deny that Neptune is an equivalent product that does an excellent job. I think you'd really like it.

wow i havnt really seen anyone say bad things about hondata(except price), i have never used it myself, i dont see the point in my mostly stock car, i personally use crome, but it seems eCtune and neptune are pretty much the only games in town anymore, its a shame but sad fact of life... i am not suprised about hondata and OBDI support... i know i am personally not happy with plx devices and their OBDI support either...

I agree with joseph davis, you can't go wrong with either eCtune or Neptune.

I vote Neptune being that you are ECtune dealer of course your going to stand behind your product. Non bias opinions or just actually using either will basically make up your mind. But if it where me the real toss up would be ectune and neptune both are pretty bad ass. And I have not had nore anyone I know had any issues with neptune....

Now i'm wondering, i'm debating between neptune or save a bit more and get a diff since I need to crack my tranny back open to fix my reverse.

I really think what i'm going to do, if my friend will let me, is borrow his slicks and make a pass and see how they do, maybe buy them and Neptune and wait on a diff til Winter time, i can get some more $$$ by then.

i would def get neptune and the demon board...been using neptune RTP for about 4 years now and love it other than that, i jus wish the software was more stable...sometimes it can be buggy if ur laptop isnt tip top brand new shape... i've pulled a couple hairs out before..

Well I ordered the Neptune RTP + Demon board combo today from xenocron. Hope I can get it in before I go to the track this weekend so I can tune some on it.

Any ideas on how I can take my map in Crome and transfer it to Neptune easily?

I dont think you can.
Neptune uses .cal's while crome uses .bin's

what I did i just opened both programes and copied my timing map from crome to neptnue manually!

it works

s300 doesnt remove the added timing in 5th gear... responsible for alot of blown up engines.

I would say neptune, i just like them but ectune is just as good. Only bad thing is neptune has a special board that you plug into (its nice and easy) Vs, ectune wich you can tune other cars that have it with it..

well the pro liscense for eCtune is designated for single car use. only one ostrich is allowed to run with it's registered version of eCtune. so in short, one ostrich, one laptop, one car. I think Calvin did these to avoid the shit that happened with crome.

I think the tuner liscense allows you to create .bin files and actually burn them onto chips.

I've actually used sManager some, so i have a bit of exp. on stuff besides freeware, and I have an older version of Crome Pro. I guess its probably better that I retune anyway, start fresh, although I've got a pretty good tune right, thanks to a couple of our members on here who helped me get a good start.

I can post up a comparo of freeware vs Neptune once I get it in.

I don't think you will be disappointing!
right when you start the car you will notice a night and day difference with Neptune compared to crome! at least I felt one car ran SO much smoother.
