Default D16z6 doesnt start

i was driving home from work and my car suddenly died. the starter chugs along but it never catches or even hints of catching.

theres fuel being sent back by the fpr but when i pull a plug and hold it to a ground to check for a spark my starter doesnt turn over.

im not sure what to do from here, im not exactly super car saavy any ideas?

it might be your starter...u can pull out the starter and use jump cable put where the ground is and put postive back of the starter to see if it spin...if it doesnt spin then your starter's shot

hope that'd help

Check for a loose ground or something it should turn over with your spark plug out. Or like dougshatch said you can test ur starter it might just be as easy and starter solonoid.

have you checked the obvious, such as making sure the battery is fully charged? If your alternator went out on you, your car would eventually die while it's running, since it can only sustain spark on the battery for so long..... the starter may still turn over, but if it's sluggish, it could be there isn't enough 'juice' to crank it , plus fire the coil....

so it would crank when you were checking for fuel but it won't after that? I agree, check your battery/alternator.

Theres an easier way to do this, without having to remove the starter.

Its well documented, step by step in the factory service manual.

OP: Do a quick search and find one of many places you can download a free factory service manual for your car. Then read it and you will find the procedure I am referring to.

You will also find many answers to other questions you have now, or will in the future.

I second the factory service manual, it's a must have if you're serious about working on your car
