Default d16z6 crank pulley dillema

Hello,

I am finishing up my second high CR (12.5) NA d16z6.

Question is this - I am using a d16a6 crank pulley, because it is a civic shuttle and I need the power steering and generator. That one has a small chip (missing a small chunk of metal) in it BUT has the "harmonic balancer".

However, today I got a pulley from 4th gen honda that does not have the balancer, and is therefore much lighter and without any visible damage.

Question is can I use the lighter one without the balancer? I am not even sure that the balancer from a6 is right for the z6.

This car will be still mostly a cruiser for the beach, with occational spirited driving/trackday.

I tried this once, 500 miles later the main bearings were wiped out. Put the stock Z6 pulley back on and the motor lasted until I got too greedy with the nitrous.

That small chip shouldn't harm anything, I've been running one on the Toyota since I have owned it in 2006, it had 240k and now it's over 400k so shouldn't cause a problem.

My balancer is also chipped, hasn't had any effect on it that i've noticed.

Don’t use an undampened pulley. Not worth the weight savings at the cost of potential premature bearing wear.
