Exclamation Z6 exhaust ports

Hi guys!

Just wondering about the shoulders in the exhaust ports and if they're just a thicker casting or if there are water jackets lurking back there. Can these shoulders be carved out to better accommodate a 2" header?

Thanks for your help.

You can go up and wide. But don't touch the floor. You also don't need to hog out either. Just a good reshape and blending will do wonders. Same with the intake ports. Don't hog these out either. You will actually lose power with too large of an intake ports.

Why do you want a 2" header?

If you have a 2" primary header already then you would be WAY better off stepping the primaries by making them 1 7/8" at the flange then going to 2" further out away from the head.

IMO, even 1 7/8" is too big for a plane jane street car . . . I wouldn't even consider a 2" unless it was 1.8L+ and you were spinning it 9000RPM+
