d14 hybrid high CR
Hi D brotherhood
the EDM have na civic ek 1.4 named as ej9 but basically it´s a ek chassis
the car produces 90hp and loves to rev
the engine code is D14a4 and uses p3y pistons wich are very dished like a vx(d16z6) pistons, however the head cilinder is the same as y7
I´m considering to change the d14a4 block to a d14a1 block from a 89 dual carb civic with nice domed pm2 pistons
witch is better trade the blocks or can i just install d14a1 pistons and rods in the d14a4 crank ???
I wanna use the y8 headgasket
the pm2 pistons are even more domed than the zc, so i bet at least my CR will be 10:5
then i ´ll change the shitty y7 manifold to a y8 IM, and install a d16a6 exhaust manifold, shave some weight off and hopefully I´ll create a d14 champ
anyone tried this or known any similar Project? does it worth
thanks in advance D brotherhood

Go to www.dodo-upgrades.nl theres everything you need to know about the d14 engines .And if i where you i would use pistons of the d14z6 out of the civic 1.4 ep1 ,those are nice flat domed pistons .Only dowside is that i never got around into buying a used set and measuring their compression height, so i'm not sure they will sit zero at deck.Or the pistons out of the facelift ej9 d14z1/z2 they have a little less dish almost flat pistons.(-2,4cc )vs the -5,4cc of the p3y d14a4/a3 pistons.
Also there are many ej9's out there who had done the I/H/E mods and a retune with ectune/crome/hondata and all had around 120hp on the crank.Others used a vtec head and had results up to 145hp on the crank.Even turbo ej9's all get up to 180hp on the crank .If you have more questions just let me know .I've been working with D14's a long time and i've found out lots of parts are the same as the d16 .
