Default Y8/Y7 hybrid

Trying to get a buddys car back on the road and have a good-ish Y8 bottom end here in the shed, he has a Y7 that spun a bearing. Any pitfalls with throwing the Y8 bottom into his car with Y7 everything-else? Piston to head and piston to valves gonna be ok? Timing belt? Water pump? Cam gear? Other issue is the Y8 is from a 99, so OBD2b. Crank sensor in the oil pump gonna be good?

Thanks for any help, haven't played with D series in a while.

It will run. a bit on the low side for hp. (y8 piston are lower cr then y7 )
I ran this setup when my y8 head went bad and i pick up a y7 head for cheap.
a y8 intake manifold swap would be great to do tho.

its a measly 0.34 compression drop. not really noticable (9.62 to 9.28 )


not worht the effort for a d16y8 intake manifold unless it was free

Im going back to y7 intake manifold. this y8 is worthless unless you can keep the rpms up high
