well, i went and picked this block up from a buddy last night.. *it was free btw!!* and a few hours ago i started a lil "damage report..."
so i took off any useless/dryrotted bolts and hoses, and removed the oil pan to find that #4 rod has been thrown!
so i used my "trusty" half inch thick flat head screw driver and 17mm socket wrench to turn the crank backwards to get the broken rod free... then i pulled the rod and piston out.... and this is where i left off...

so far i figured i would need to disassemble it completely, and give it an "acid bath", hone, buy a rebuild kit for a d16a1 from honda (what is the average price for a rebuild kit????), and if my insurance comes through with my claim, then its gonna get some stronger rods, and low comp turbo pistons, otherwise, it'll get a junk stock rod and piston... and since the crank jammed the broken rod against the block wall, i figured it would prolly be necessary for a new crank as well????? oh and i almost forgot, i found a d16a1 complete setup (motor & tranny still in the engine bay)for $49 buckaroos at the local "you pull it" junkyard, so i prolly will snag the head for lets say.. $15-20, and if you guys think it is necessary to replace the crank, then i will grab that as well... *if anything off of my d15b7 will work on this block, lemme know!*

***if any of you guys have ever been in this situation, or no what to do to make it just like new, lemme here some input.. ***

will the D15B7 head work with the d16a1??



will the d15b7 rods and pistons work with the d16a1? will it decrease displacement or CR??


and lastly, will the DX intake mani work with the DOHC????

No, no, no, and no. The D15 rods are too short and will not give you 1.6l, nor will they give you the compression you need. The DOHC head has a different intake manifold, you have to find a DOHC ZC manifold. The D15 head may work on that block, but something custom might need to be done.

Yeah, ZC/D16A1 intake manifolds have a much different bolt pattern than the other D-series motors. Sorry man.

well, i am going to buy an a1 head from a junkyard. and the mani comes with, so i can get a working mani, i was just curious... oh well.. what about the exhaust manifold? is it the same as sohc?
