Default D16z6 intake manifold onto brown-top ZC?

hey all
a mate of mine has a JDM AT Si civic
running original JDM DOHC ZC brown-top

the intake manifold and throttle body is really letting him down
he has deleted the FITV but the throttle body is crap and the intake manifold is small

is there a way i can put one of my D16z6 or JDM D15b intake manifolds onto his engine for better flow and more simple setup?

thanks in advance =)

Look it up.

I would highly recommend using a JDM Blacktop intake manifold. It's the best D-series manifold and will bolt right up to the engine.

those pics from above show the newer ZC manifold - not the one on this car
have a look at the pics i posted

i have about 5 various manifolds at my house - 3 D15b7, 1 D16y1 (z6), and 1 JDM D15b

i want to use one of the z6 manifolds + throttle body because its all there and ready to go

bolt pattern aside - is there anything else we need to be aware of? - like the black vaccum box or vaccum lines? - or once you remove all the old school stuff - does everything kind of find its way back to the Z6 ports etc?

EDIT: beav- when you say blacktop - would that be the same as our audm D16a8?

so if i have narrowed this down correctly ...

we need to get a D16a8 intake manifold to bolt straight up
or an adapter plate to use an SOHC manifold

if we want low end torque we keep the double plate throttle body
but if we want high end power we go for a single plate?

patprimmer - from what i have seen a more common way to get the D16a8 is the ausie EG Si

but thanks for giving us an extra option to look out for - now i know what to ask around for =p

EDIT - what are peoples opinions on single plate vs twin plate throttle bodies?

IMO single> dual... One bigger opening is always better than 2 small ones lol... Unless it's a women

I have not seen the twin plate.

If it opens progressively, then it gives more accurate throttle control as you only open a small throttle for low speed work where control is a lot more sensitive.

As to airflow, for the same total area a single should flow just a little more.

To really know you need to measure all three throttle plates and work out their area at WOT on each system. Don't forget to subtract the area of the throttle shaft as the single might be a bigger dia shaft.

Absolutely not. You WILL need to retune the engine to make use of any other than stock manifold, but with a proper tune, the A8 manifold will spank that manifold's bottom like a red-headed step child.

Meh. You have a vacuum advance distributor. I would grab all the good stuff from another civic with 'real' engine management and make the upgrade so you can actually get some benefit from mods. Mucking about with vacuum advance sucks donkeyballs.
