ahh so what are the connections for? because my seatbelts dont seem to stop if you jerk on them. does the car have to be on or running for the seat belts to lock up?

replace your seatbelts before you get in an accident and they FAIL. If they dont stop when u jerk on them they are defective....

Not all seatbelts are like that though. Some seatbelts need a reverse force on them for the seatbelts to lock. They shouldn't lock if you jerk on them, only when you are slowing down. Go here for more, it's a very simple design:http://auto.howstuffworks.com/seatbelt3.htm

Take them to your local dealer, they are a lifetime warranty item and there should be little hassle in getting them replaced.

I know this from experience.
