Default ABS and SRS faults.

I don't know if this is the right section to post this in, but if not. Could someone please move it, or let me know of the appropriate place and i'll re-post. That'd be fantastic.

Anyway. When I went to pick up the car about 5 months ago and it started, we noticed that the ABS and SRS lights came on, and did not go out. And I know I may need to do some other work to it, but I replaced the battery hopping that would solve at least the ABS (as I was told it would by a friend of mine). But no, it's still on in all of it's glory and not going out.

I was told about bridging the two pins or something? But for the SRS I don't think I would be able to do that, as it's airbags and I don't want them going of as it would be a very expensive thing to repair. +once they go of, the car is classed as a write off. So I think I will be sending it to a Honda Dealer for that. I know it's going to cost an arm and a leg, but at least it will be done properly (I hope...)

Anyway, if any one has any tips or have done this themselves. Please, give a girl some help .

Are you wanting to have funtioning ABS or just get the light to go away. You can remove the bulb for the ABS and the light will go away but you ABS just wont be funtional.

If you want to fix it then you may look to see if any of the wires going to the ABS sensors are torn off or cut. Im pretty sure there is a fuse just for the ABS probably under the hood.

As far as the SRS sytem goes I don't know where to start, I never messed with airbags before other than hooking a battery up to one and watch it throw a tire 20ft in the air.

I actually have some experience with this...i will walk you through on firt off how to check the codes. Yes the abs and the srs systems both have their own set of fault codes verry similar to the engines cel codes. Give me a chance to take some pics and i will be back to show you what to do.

Here's a DIY SRS reset that was done here a couple of years ago.

https://www.d-series.org/forums/diy-f...srs-light.html

You didn't mention year make or model but here's a list of ABS codes.

94-97 ABS CODES

You pull these codes the same way you pull check-engine codes, but it's the ABS light that's blinking. Here's the sequence...

Insert the jumper, then turn on the key.
Long (2sec.) flash - long (2sec.) pause - this isn't the code yet.
Short flashes for the first digit of the code - 1sec. pause - short flashes for the 2nd digit.
Long (5-second) pause, then the next code.

(94-97) ABS DTCs...
1 - ABS pump motor over-run
1 2 ABS pump motor
1 3 high pressure leakage
1 4 pressure switch
1 8 high pressure system
2 1 parking brake
3 1 pulser RF
3 2 pulser LF
3 4 pulser RR
3 8 pulser LR
3 12 different diameter tires
4 1 wheel sensor RF
4 2 wheel sensor LF
4 4 wheel sensor RR
4 8 wheel sensor LR
5 - rear wheel lock - R/L
5 4 rear wheel lock - R
5 8 rear wheel lock - L
6 - fail-safe relay - F/R
6 1 fail-safe relay - F
6 4 fail-safe relay - R
7 1 solenoid - RF
7 2 solenoid - LF
7 4 solenoid - R
8 1 ABS function
8 2 CPU comparison
8 4 IC self-check

There's NO long flashes, it's all short flashes with short & long pauses in between.

Beginning in '98 there's a whole different ABS system, with a different list of codes.

98+ CODES

11 - wheel senor (open/short to body ground/short to power) FR
13 - wheel senor (open/short to body ground/short to power) FL
15 - wheel senor (open/short to body ground/short to power) RR
17 - wheel senor (open/short to body ground/short to power) RL
12 - wheel senor (electrical noise/intermittent interuption) FR
14 - wheel senor (electrical noise/intermittent interuption) FL
16 - wheel senor (electrical noise/intermittent interuption) RR
18 - wheel senor (electrical noise/intermittent interuption) RL
21 - pulser FR
22 - pulser FL
23 - pulser RR
24 - pulser RL
31 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FR-IN
32 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FR-OUT
33 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FL-IN
34 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FL-OUT
35 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RR-IN
36 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RR-OUT
37 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RL-IN
38 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RL-OUT
41 - wheel lock FR
42 - wheel lock FL
43 - wheel lock RR
44 - wheel lock RL
51 - motor lock
52 - motor stuck OFF
53 - motor stuck ON
54 - fail-safe relay
61 - ignition voltage
62 - ignition voltage
71 - different diameter tire
81 - central processing unti (CPU)

I guess the FSM is wrong then and Honda doesn't know how to work on their own vehicles.

Those tools are basically a push button with 2 wires and paper clips at the end of each wire and the same thing on the 2nd one but instead of a button it's a connector

Now this is my wife's car a 2001 civic lx

Under the driver dash you will look for the obd port.

You will then get your connector tool and insert one side into port 9 and the other into port 4

Make sure on you tool (wire) the other side is connected together

Now turn key and watch srs blink

This was 9 flashes then 3 quick flashes.....code 9-3

9-3 basically means my drivers seat belt buckle is bad

Ok got a new one

Remove old one

Compare them new one in on the right side

Make sure to connect the plugs

Then put everything back

Now go back under the dash and disconnect your connector tool. And find this guy

No get your push button tool and connect as so

With your tool connected this is what you do with the button in one hand hold down the push button with your other hand put key in ignition and switch it to on. Continue holding down button just watch the srs light after a few seconds it will turn off let go of push bottom after about a seconded it will come on push the push button then it will go off again let go of button after that it will blink twice then turn off if it stays on repeat the process of checking the srs code because then you will have another code to check. In my case I only had one code so once I replaced the buckle my srs went away

Your 01-05 is different. 96-00 Civics you jump the service connector for both SRS and ABS instead of the OBD port, just like pulling CEL codes without a scanner.

Like i mentioned in my first reply here, I don't see mention of YMM.

The SCS(service connector) is pin 9 and 4 on the DLC(Data link connector/OBD2 port)
