Default D16y7 Engine Shake

I just bought a 97 civic dx hatchback and the engine shakes. anybody got any idea ?... what could cost the engine to shake.

Mine rocks back and forth, espcially on startup. But my mounts are done. What makes it shake? Soft mounts (rubber) and your engine is made up of rotating parts that are exerted out of the engine ....

you prolly need a crank pully. hondas crank pully doubles as a harmonic wheel. other than that maybe the flywheel. only things i can think of on the engine that would cause that. im betting on crank pully.

i would check your motor mounts first. grab the engine and give it a shake and see where the play is coming from, if any.

wouldnt cause vibration though. not engine mounts.

No sir, not necessarily. Happened to me... more than once, engine shook and no CEL. Bad plugs.

could very well be than. good call. usually youl get a misfire code or lean/rich code.
