Default '03 civic EX engine issues; change or replace?

The family car is producing noises, knocks specifically. They are not noticeable to simple ear, the mechanic pointed the sound after the last oil change (I been using castrol 10W40), because he was cleaning the throtle body and IAC valve. The sound can be heard when one has the hood open and only after one accelerate after 2200-2300 RPM. He pointed out to be wrist pins; which I think means to tear down the engine.

Because of previous experiences, I dont thrust these rebuilds, but the car is not using a drop of oil, exhaust smells normal (no oils or other funny smells), no overheat, no coolant loss. I do notice the car is not as responsive as others civic I been into, but is not that bad either.

any suggestions?

wrist pins do not make a knocking sound the rod could be knocking though video with sound would help. if it is very light it could just be your valve train we have a very noisy valve train.

and why are you running 10w40 that's way too thick you should be running like 5w20 on that motor
