Honda CR-V Wins 2017 AutoGuide.com Utility Vehicle of the Year Award
Apr 13, 2017 - 6:52 AM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
The Honda CR-V has been named 2017 AutoGuide.com Utility Vehicle of the Year, joining the Ford Focus RS and Ford F-150 Raptor to round out the outlet’s top choices for 2017.

Choosing a Utility Vehicle of the Year winner is consistently challenging and this year was no different, with plenty of strong contenders to choose from. The CR-V was pitted against the Kia Sportage, Jaguar F-Pace, GMC Acadia and Audi Q7 in the fight for AutoGuide.com’s Utility of the Year honors, making this year’s competition no walk — or drive — in the park. But after the dust settled it was the CR-V that impressed the most during evaluations, with its combination of interior space and in-demand features providing plenty of reasons to like it.

'The Honda CR-V was a pioneer of the crossover movement, and it’s only gotten better with time,' said AutoGuide.com Group Editorial Director

Listen to the New Civic Type R Rev its Turbo Engine
Mar 24, 2017 - 12:01 PM - by AutoGuide.com

Honda is indulging our ears with a new video that reveals how the upcoming Civic Type R will sound.

The entire clip showcases the new car with plenty of flashy editing and camera work, but if you’re here to hear, skip straight to the 0:48 second mark. The little 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine definitely has some bark to back up its bite, which amounts to 306 horsepower.

Hold Up. Is this the Honda ZSX?
Mar 09, 2017 - 9:36 AM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
We just got our hands on pictures of a mystery Honda being unloaded from a transport truck in California. Although it’s clearly a concept—production cars in our experience come with roofs—it looks an awful lot like something that might eventually become the Honda ZSX, sometimes known as the baby NSX.

First and foremost, this just looks like a little NSX. The pointy features and the aerodynamism are all pure NSX. The tiny frontal area also suggests that this is a mid-engine car.

Then there’s the more circumstantial evidence of its location. Our spy photographer found this concept hanging around California, which a quick look at my Atlas tells me is in America. The very same America where the NSX was developed. The same America whose

Production Honda Civic Type R Finally Debuts With 306 HP
Mar 07, 2017 - 6:23 AM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
Compact sports car fans, the time is finally here for you to go nuts over the brand new Honda Civic Type R, which will finally be making its way to North America with 306 horsepower.

Based on the new 10th-generation Civic, Honda is calling this the most powerful, quickest, fastest and most agile version of its compact car ever, and the production model has just debuted at the Geneva Motor Show looking just like the prototype.

Under the hood, you’ll find a turbocharged and direct injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. That power is sent to the front wheels thanks to a short-throw six-speed manual transmission that also features automatic rev matching for quick and smooth downshifting. Compared to the last-generation European Type R, the new model also features a lower final drive ratio for better throttle response and a new single-mass flywheel that will reduce reduces clutch inertia.

There’s also a completely redone suspension setup that’s designed to reduce torque steer and improve at-the-limit handling. That’s done with a new four-wheel adaptive suspension system that is sure to be awesome on the road. The car also features an adaptive and variable ratio electric power steering system as well as a helical limited-slip front differential.

At each corner, high-performance Continental ContiSportContact 6 tires are mounted on sexy 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, and behind those are four-piston Brembo brakes and big cross-drilled rotors up front.

The chassis has also undergone several enhancements,

Production Honda Civic Type R Images Leak with No Surprises
Mar 06, 2017 - 10:53 AM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
Feast your eyes on the first set of, admittedly blurry, photos of the production-spec Honda Civic Type R.

The images of the new Honda Civic Type R have leaked on the internet, and it appears very little has changed compared to the concept shown at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and 2016 L.A. Auto Show. This will be the first Civic Type R that will ever be sold in the U.S., a moment Honda enthusiasts have been waiting decades for.

Unfortunately no details have been spilled, but the Civic Type R is expected to offer more power than the current model’s 306 horsepower figure. Under the hood will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor and in true Civic fashion, it will remain front-wheel drive.

The big question remains if the Japanese automaker will chase after the Nurburgring front-wheel-drive record, which was taken by the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S last year. Look for more details on the new Honda Civic Type R next week, as AutoGuide.com will be reporting live from the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Production Civic Type-R Highlights Trio of Honda Debuts at Geneva Motor Show
Feb 16, 2017 - 2:10 PM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
Honda has officially announced that the Geneva Motor Show is where we’ll catch the production version of the Civic Type-R, as well as two other important debuts from the Japanese automaker.

While we’ve seen iterations of the Type-R at previous auto shows, the model being displayed at the Geneva Motor Show is going to be an honest-to-goodness production model. Little is known about the car so far, but hopefully more details will be shared at the show. All we can say is that this hot Honda will be making its way to North America and it’ll pack a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Alongside the production version of the Civic Type-R, Honda will be showing off the new Honda Clarity hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. The first batch of European deliveries of this car happened late last year, but Honda is still keen on showcasing its commitment to alternate fuel vehicles. Capable of going 385 miles on a single tank of hydrogen, the Clarity is set to be a major advancement for these clean vehicles. We’ll even have driving impressions of the Clarity in the coming months.

Finally, Honda will give its NeuV Concept Car a proper European debut. This small, electric concept car is designed to also provide car-sharing capabilities when its owner is not using the vehicle, which can help put some extra money in the owners pocket. It also features an 'emotion engine' that can read the driver’s emotions and apply what it has learned from

Honda Could Team Up with Google’s Waymo on Self-Driving Cars
Dec 23, 2016 - 10:36 AM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
Honda is in talks with Waymo, Google’s newly formed self-driving car project, to supply the tech company with vehicles.

If it moves forward, it will be a technical collaboration between Honda engineers and Waymo’s self-driving technology team, allowing both teams to learn from each other and work together. Honda will have to provide Waymo with vehicles that are specially modified to accommodate the self-driving technology, while Waymo would lend Honda its insight into self-driving technology, a field every automaker is interested in these days.

The step would help Honda towards its previously stated goal of having cars with automated driving capabilities on public roads sometime around 2020. Joining forces with Waymo may also give Honda a different approach at bring self-driving technology to market by doing so with a partner rather than alone. The type of vehicle to be provided by Honda wasn’t mentioned.

Waymo just received a fleet of 100 specially fitted Chrysler Pacifica minivans for testing, so it seems that Google knows it needs to make partnerships with existing major automakers.

If both parties agree to the partnership, Honda engineers in Silicon Valley and Tochigi, Japan will work closely with Waymo engineers based in Silicon Valley and in Novi, Michigan.

2017 Honda Civic Si Debuts to Hold the Flag Until Type R Gets Here
Nov 16, 2016 - 6:35 AM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
Now that everyone has seen what the Civic Type R looks like, pretty much nothing else in the Honda universe really matters anymore.

To carry the Japanese automaker’s performance flag until the Type R gets here, which is still ways away, the 2017 Honda Civic Si just made its global debut at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show.

Looking pretty tame compared to the hyper-aggressive Type R hatch, the Si strikes a nice balance between the regular Civic and the much-anticipated hot hatch. The Si will be available as a coupe and a sedan, but a short-shifting six-speed manual transmission will be the only one available.

The 2017 Honda Civic Si will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which the automaker says is “high-performance” and “high-torque.” Unfortunately, Honda didn’t release any information about power output, the one thing that prospective Si drivers care most about. The last Civic Si had 205 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque, so it’s safe to assume that this upcoming model’s figures will surpass the previous generation’s numbers.

This Si Prototype has a full Honda Factory Performance (HFP) aero kit, spoiler, a slick center-mountedexhaust setup, and 19-inch, 10-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels. Performance upgrades include a new active damper system,
