supposivly I bought a tranny from a 98 civic EX. Tranny arrives today and it says P24 A000 on it. They provide me a VIN number that is in fact an EX civic but tranny label says A000. I am thinking that maybe the car had the tranny swapped before they got it and someone put a DX tranny in it.
P24 A000, thats a Y7 tranny correct? |

Definitely not an Ex tranny...at least you can go get it! My friend here in SC bought what was supposed to be a Ex/Si tranny from a COMPANY in NY I believe and they set him a DX too! So pissed, but he ended up not sending it back or anything; just sucked it up and dealt with it. Not exactly what I would have done, but yeah...not a good time!
Have them pay for gas on the return trip!

Paying with a credit card is the shit. Dispute charges saying you didnt get what you paid for... instead you got a different item, an item that you did not want.
The guy on the phone told me that it cant be that much different than the B000.... just some gears. I told him I already have a perfectly working A000 tranny, why would I want another one? ALso explaine I just bought gears, and LSD, etc for the damn thing that doesnt fit the A000. SO I am going to let this slide as an honest mistake. Lesson learned... dont send your GF out to pick shit up. I will go out there next week and swap it out for the correct tranny. When it gets opened up, there better not be ANYTHING wrong with the tranny or they are going to be eating a parts bill when transex builds the tranny. They have exhausted there mistake cards. I want it smooth from here on out |

That one is for the 88-91's, where does the EX fit in? Right between the DX and SI? I'm still not 100% satisfied with the "fluff" i've heard going around about the 90/91 EX being small bearing with a FD that's inbetween the DX and SI...I know that you've got the final answer...

I forgot to do the math last night, but I suggest using 3rd gear.
can anyone confirm.deny the Y5 got 3.25 FD, the .pdf I have states 3.722 FD Y5 3.250 FD = 1.172 x 3.250 = 3.81 Y7 3.722 FD = 1.172 x 3.722 = 4.36 Y7 4.058 FD = 1.172 x 4.058 = 4.76 Y8 4.250 FD = 1.250 x 4.250 = 5.31 10 turns of the main shaft in third gear. Y5 = 10 / 3.81 = 2.62 turns of the diff Y7 = 10 / 4.36 = 2.29 turns of the diff Y7 = 10 / 4.76 = 2.10 turns of the diff Y8 = 10 / 5.31 = 1.89 turns of the diff
