So my girlfriend recently purchased an 88 crx with a 95 si motor swap. The thing is, the tranny is still from an EF (considering its cable not hydro)..
The ECU in the car reads PM6-A09 which i read is still the stock crx ecu, but the ecu tells me something is wrong with the speed sensor (17 blinks). The speedo in the car doesnt work, guy said something about the speedo cable though. The guy also said that he bought the transmission seperately from a shop... My manual tells me that the speed sensor in the ef trannys is a mechanical (gear driven) one, while the newer trannys are electronic... The CEL doesnt come on until maybe 5 mins or so of driving though, which i find odd. So what could be wrong? Just replace the speed sensor on the trans? Oh and the trans code reads L3-2076002, what kind of trans is it? Off topic, but semi related question, if i were to swap to a P26 ecu what would be the downfall? I don't like having the vtec hooked up to a button and i know this ecu isnt tuned right for the motor thats hooked to it. I assume since the ecu reads from an electronic sensor, then i would be constantly throwing a code since i dont have an electronic sensor on the tranny, right?

i had a problem with my speed sensor after my swap... turns out when i legthen my wires i f-ed up...
your should be a cable driven one, they all have gears on them... from what ive read, there all pretty much interchangeable... mine was cable driven, i swapped it for the electrical version, no problems at all after i rewired it the second time... i still have a spare electric speed sensor if you need one...

ya, install a cable in there, it should work then because even the ef and da clusters send a speedo signal to the ecu. same way 2 step rev limiter works in turbo edit

oh yand yes, both cable and hydro trannys use a gear driven sensor, make sure the one you have has a hole in the top of it and not a plug
