Default new clutch slipping? after 8lb flywheel install..

I just installed my 8.4lb flwheel,
changed my clutch to my used about 2000 miles oem exedy clutch I had,,

now my clutch wont grab on 2nd,3rd & so on...

does anybody have any reason why? or how?

-my clutch i had on was almost gone.!
the exedy clutch I had grabbed good before & still looks brand new...

& really didnt notice a huge difference after switching flywheels...
from stock 16lb to 8.4lb...
difference was in 1st gear goes up pretty fast...but not like I thought it would...hops the wheels...

--o yea...just an update.
the clutch grabs only when at higher rpms shifting fast...

My guess is lost inertia due to the 50% reduction in weight.

Inertia wouldn't cause it to not grip. I have a 8lb flywheel in my Accord and a 7lb in my Civic and if anything; it will just bog/shake more easily when shifting.

Did you clean the surface of the flywheel and PP when installing? PP tightened all the way? Throwout-bearing correctly on the clutch lever? Just throwing up ideas.

Break-in implies that it's working On the instructions for the clutch, they usually tell you to clean the surface of the flywheel and pressure plate with brake cleaner. Maybe that's the problem?

thats the only thing I can think of...
do you or anyone else think it'll just break back in (sooner or later) without the brake cleaner mod?....lol

"step" aside.

What was the PP to clutch step dimensions of the old flywheel vs. the new one?

step dimensions?

we sized the old clutch with the new one & they were the exact same,,
same amount of fingers,,,/..
I just drove to work this morning & come back,
its still doing it a little,...i guess alot..
I try a 1st to 2nd hard shift @ high rpm's....wont catch..
it also does it when going 2nd to 3rd,

I have no problems yet taking off,
which I dont like to dump the clutch launching,
but I have spin'd & slowed down just to see,

today I went on a small back road real quick & floored it reving to 7,000,
then shifted real hard...lol
grinded the tranny a bit..
but I did get a little pull on second to make it chirp,
I took that shift out with my anger.

...but I was on small little bumps/hills,
so it would make it kinda jump & wanna spin,

I'm not having any luck & no clue,

we busted my axel seal & were about to change that right now,
after driving since yesterday leaking tranny fluid...dots even on my bumper,

I love the flywheel thou,
it kinda settled in today a little bit more, fell the grip on the clutch at lower rpms,

I have a strange noise like my axel isnt all the way in,
a clunk somtimes when I put it in reverse & start to take off,
including some on take off/of a turn...

were changing the axel seal today & hopfully someone or us,have any ideas or spot anything out that it could be from the outside of the tranny?//

thanks for ideas & this thing is killing me,
if you have any other ideas please let me know,
I just dont really want to dig back in the clutch area..

-Randy

ok.....heres the FIX update,

we changed my axel seal which was leaking & now my clutch grabs 2nd 3rd & so on & has no clutch slippage....

I wonder how,
my guess would be somthing with the axel not all the way in?
(but I wouldnt think that would make the lutch act as if it was slipping)

but its fixed anyway, clutch grabs every gear & the 8.4lb flywheel gets my vouch!

definitley a night & day difference.

thanks for the help guys!
