Help!!!!!!!!!
does anyone know of a semi safe way to build my coilovers without a coil compressor? I have been to every autoparts store on the island. not one compressor. not for rent or buy. I would really like to get this done as i have the next 2 days off, but i cannot afford, nor do i want to spend 180$ to have the local shop do it. besides, their a bunch of snobs anyways. So if you got a idea, let me have it. i need to take the tophats off for reuse on the new setup, but how to safely get them off? I might kill someone if i have to buy the stupid tool online. p.s. I know some of you guys work there, but FUCK autozone. the one tool on their list of rentals that they dont have, nor can get(?) is the one i need....lol fml.

use the car as a compressor.
place jack under LCA, remove strut nut, lower jack, remove strut assembly.

sorry to confuse. I have brand new tokico blues and lowering springs(a lil ghetto), but i need to reuse my old tophats.
I thought about using the car, i just dont know anyone that has done it, nor how much of a good idea it is... And i would go to harbor freight...if their was one. lol So i can use the car. ok. cool, i was a little worried that might not be a good idea. hopefully more low by the end of the day... And i can use the car to work backwards yes? like place the shock and spring in and jack the lca back up to compress the spring again? i am a bit retarded/overly cautious...sometimes. thanks guys!

Putting things back together with the lower springs is usually easy. I didn't even need a spring compressor to put my H&R Sports on. MY GF just had to push down a bit on the spring while I caught enough threads on the nut.

There ya go free compression. Let the weight of the car and the jack do the work for you. Bones your the man.

put an impact wrench on the top of the coil assembly.
lay the assembly on its side stand on the spring with one foot point the strut in a direction that has nothing valuable or breakable impact 14mm nut off of strut piston. watch strut slide for 5-10 feet across the floor enjoy a beer.

^this. I actually got this done by myself lol. I just set the assembly up and used one hand to push down and the other to get the nut to catch some threads lol. Wasnt an easy job by any means but I got it done lol.

ive done the ghetto method of just letting the shock fly into a wall.
worked fine. no danger. ymmv. wear safety glasses. use jack stands. and look both ways before you cross the street.

I swapped off the coilovers and installed H&R OEM sports and never removed the lower shock bolts on the rear.
Make sure to use an allen wrench to hold the shaft from spinning on adjustable shocks.

Lay it on the ground, vise grips on the OEM strut shaft against ground to prevent turning, put socket and ratchet on nut, gloves on hands, and put a towel under then on the top side pinched against ground and under foot, loosen. Its alright you wont die i've done it numerous times. Or use your car if you can get to a garage.
