I'm here for a while, so today I decided to show my civic
its '95 what we call here *englishcivic* MA9 chassis slightly modified

spc adj ball joints
front camber -2.5 rear -3.5* zero toe
front UCA switched left to right to increase caster
stock set of MB6 sways which is 26mm front and 17mm rear
EK eibach pro kit with rear shock modified to accept shorter EK springs
ebay 4-2-1 header, wrapped, 50mm ex with supersprint backfire muffler
stock ek9 mb6 etc strut bar, diy rear x-bar, mirco bucket seat
rear disk from 1.4 civic MB2 (slightly bigger pistons than your average eg ek ones afaik)
17cl14vn 57mm piston front calipers,
1" MC and modified prop valve (runned into an article with accurate measurements for 260/240 vs 260/drums prop spring, 1.5mm or so washers did the trick)
'92 civic EH s20 trans, FD 4.25, equal length shafts
and the last but not the least - d16z5 swap (it's the dohc zc, you know )))

oh yeah and I forgot about the most important thing - pool ball shift knob :bigok:

my ZC started to knock a little
still dunno the cause, seems like a camshaft, just because if it was a bottom end - it would not stand for a year of competitions lol

anyway I decided to do a minime swap using original d15z3 block from this car.
block number is essential back here )))
so i picked up some d15b2 rods and o/s pistons
and d16z6 head
fully rebuilt, did everything except milling and boring in my garage

polished IN with 80 grit and EX with 320 or so

not the best pics but you still can see surface =\

I've extended valve reliefs with dremel and polished with 80 grit, checked the volume after and got -3cc on each

in general - nope )
southern regions (and I am from the south) as well as pretty much all country except few cities in the east are pro-ukrainian, claiming for peace and unity.
those cities are not even capital-cities, and that rioting eastern part of ukraine considered to be worlds 84-th richest motherfucker Renat Akhmetov property, there's an opinion that I share,
that he supports this riots (even that he claims the opposite) to have something to trade with new government, as he was tied up to out ex-president who fled with all of his mobster-ministers and prosecutors to russia, and now he is pretty much fucked

Love seeing the different civic iterations, nice job.

I like seeing cars from other areas, we did not get the 5 door Civic here in the US...glad to hear your car isn't about to be flipped over and lit on fire in a riot...that's never a good thing

So, back off topic, what you are saying is the whole Ukraine crisis that makes no sense from our side as the media doesn't report news, it reports what "they" want us know (which is apparently very little regarding the Ukraine) is pretty much about Russia attempting to annex the wealthy/elite regions of your country? Trying to bolster Russia's GDP while not taking on any more "people" to be responsible for? And there are Ukrainian nationals that support this because they think Russia's economy is better for them?

Sounds like the same shit everywhere else you go, the rich scheme to get richer, the poor find themselves oiling the cogs of the machine, with their own blood if need be. Gotta love human nature...we want to have our cake and eat it too

is pretty much about Russia attempting to annex the wealthy/elite regions of your country?
absolutely not at all, first of all it's not as it were in Crimea
Crimea is a key to a Black Sea, and fleet that is capable of controlling the region
here we have completely different story:
wealthiest regions of our country, those that contribute to budget are one of western states and central ones.
those that are rioting now were donated for many years, nothing but coal mines there.

Think of it this way - Russia dont want to annex smth to use it for its own benefit. freezing is enough. to put it simple - riots, mine closed, no coil, gotta buy gas from russia.

they did the same shit with Abhasia recently, country had some minor oilfields in Black Sea - after all the mess was sorted out (google if you're interested) Russia attached them as federation's subject and guess what - it's one of the poorest and abandoned places I've ever seen, a wasteland.

here's another tip for ya, just to keep in mind
some media states that those rebels are civilians who wants to be heard, their optiton to be taken to account. bullshit. you don't get AA missiles and do not shoot down two helis to be heard. that's what happened in Slavyansk. to helis down, one damaged. experts claim that there is no way a non-trained civilian could operate those AA missile launchers )

sory if you're confused, there so many things to tell, and a huge amount of misinformation every day to be checked, but as elections close in things seems to calm little by little

I'll agree, misinformation abounds when it comes to stories like this. Over the years, with regard to our domestic media, I've learned that when a story doesn't make sense, it's because they aren't telling us the truth. Wait, the truth will become known at some point...try not to forget in the meantime, which I'm sure is what they are gunning for here

So, Russia wants to sell gas, needs to close the coal mines first...that makes sense, never heard a word of this from the media either.

Abhazia is an interesting read, sounds familiar even though we didn't get much on it over here, kind of a small scale version of what happened to the country we knew as "Yugoslavia" as the USSR began to deteriorate, lot's of ethnic strife, border disputes, etc...I have to say, I'm not envious of east Europe's recent history and it's something us Americans need to be mindful of as we grow ever nearer to revolution over here, the fallout when the man exits the stage can take men to some very dark places.

back to the topic - i grabbed federals 595 rsr recently and did a little test. two weekends in a row i went on local karting track with racechrono on android tablet. first weekend - pretty old barum bravuras which are *top of the dirt-cheap* tires on the front, and maloya futura on the rear, just decent tire.
second - new virgin federals, first thing i though *whoa wat a grip!* :)
best lap time decreased by 2.3 sec and lateral g-force in some tough corners increased from 1.1 to 1.3g
most efficient mod i ever did to my car since swapped

last weekend I went to timeattack event in Poltava, it's a capital city 350mi away,
about 30mi of which is fukken killeroads
sat - training session went well, except it was veery hot
sunday - races, I got lucky as there were some clouds in the morning and under 1600cc class cars are first ones to go. 57.98 sec best lap and then coil toasted =\
anyway, this result got me to the 2nd place in the class, first time I'm in a top 3 ! =)))
1st place took EG8 with b16a2 skunk in, cams, ported and polished, 11+CR tuned and god knows what else, on advan rg-d replica and federals 595 rs-r

made some new friends, lend them my federals+enkeis for two sessions left and had a ride as a co-driver in turboed 8valve 1.5 ~200hp LADA 2108 with a rollcage. not bad )

towed to the 2nd place )))

I'm on the right

was messing with a car for a while, tested ingniter and coil, seems there's a weak spark when you connect spark via a wire to a coil itself and connect igniter input to ground. car started twice after this, both times dying with throttle slightly opened.
after cranking I can smell fuel in ex pipe so I think it's not a fuel supply - inj, filters or pump
the problem is that i left the car there and got home by train, ordered a new coil and going to return for my car on next weekend.
should I grab smth else to be sure I could start it ?
igniter seems to operate properly, I believe there is no way it gives the spark on coil and still *bad* ?
cap is in fairly good condition, wires are not that good, plugs have seen better days but I'll get new ones. anything else?

#18 ·
I wish I could but its hard to find one in 3 days =\

on the other hand I overhauled it recently - all new wires from sensors to connectors, new oil seal and bearing. obviously dizzy was overheated badly as oil seal rubber cracked and came out in pieces and wires isolation was cracked too.
my bad I didnt think at that moment that overheated coil would fail soon =(

finally I got it running - new sparks, new coil (even that I got spark while testing old one)
cleaned rotor and cap, minimized gap between rotor and contacts and some other nearly-useless mumbo-jumbo, as I was not going to return home by train one more time ))
also had some problems with ecu harness.
zc consumes about 1liter of oil per 1000km, so the next time I race - the car will be d15-powered =\

installed the head on my d15 build, checked the p2v clearance, not clayed =)
ex valves open piston hits em and lift head 3mm up
in valves - surprisingly I could do a full crank turn with valves open (vtec not locked) so reliefs are at least enough for pre-vtec lift =))
pretty happy after I read that there's 0.1mm clearance when using stock pm3's

btw the FSM I refer to has some misprints, so
proper tq for head bolt on both d16z6 and d15z1 (i have d15z3 bottom end which is basically the same) is 73Nm?
FSM states 73 on one page and 65 on another (probably mixed up with d15b2/7) but still I'd like to clarify.
for now I tq'ed them with 65Nm

#22 ·
sooo I've swapped the engine, d15 in, d16 out - no lift no crane just to jack stands )))
dohc d is a superior motor, intake plenum is bigger than d16z6, runners are fat and shorter comparing to d16z6, its a pity that my motor is in bad shape =(

still need to undo obd0 conversion and I'm ready to start it

#23 ·
Ive decided to follow break-in procedure described here on dso - heatcycle, gradually beat more and mor shit of it and done. after i drained the oil it was full of metal particles, guess it what it suppose to look like ))
even untuned engine runs pretty well, seems as good as my dohc was. tomorrow i'll take it to the track and try to set a lap time to compare with zc-powered laps ))

also, I've ordered a WB o2 sensor and chip burner, gonna learn how to tune soon

#24 ·
set a lap time on a local track, 0.8 sec slower than it used to be, considering higher temp 27-30C vs 20C
and sunny vs clouds and the fact that motor is not tuned yet I'm satisfied with results ))

btw where I can find a good write up on how to tune an engine?
*how to tune with chrome* pdf seems to be good, anything else I should read?

and back to the news!

visited Odessa, an 80mi away capital city for timeattack event, which takes place regularly on a closed highway outside of the city.
a part of a highway loop, construction frozen for ages, some local volunteers turned it into a race track that consists of a long straight (up to 115+kmph on my car) and few corners, that are actually a part of a highway and two exits, connected by the passage under the bridge that was never built.
a little map of the track if in the right bottom corner of the pic.
during the event volunteers provide safety, warning locals and blocking wandering vehicles (road is not finished and actually CLOSED but never abandoned =\), but it is still not a race track, ditches are scary =) so configuration is adjusted with used tires so that the risk of going off the track is minimized.
kinda semi-legal racing )

first time on this track and I took 3rd prize, letting two EG's with d15b7 and minor mods (like RX7 4pot calipers )))) take 1st ans 2nd
