first off i want to say thank you to greg at go-autoworks.com for always hooking me up! i owe you! thanks a million to geoff at coltcams.com for helping me with a cam! it should make a huge difference! thanks to rob at RTFab for the reservoir! and a furure thanks to chris @ polarbeartuning.com for the sick sick sick 74mm tb's and plates.
well heres my new build thread for 2010. i have set a very extreme goal for myself of trying to touch a 9. i dont know if it will happen, but i will keep pushing the car until i get close. i have a nitrous kit ready to rock if i need it, but ive been saving up and decided to use a sc6262 instead of a garret t3/t4 i was going to use. as such, i have set a difficult but doable goal. anyways.. i was tired of jamming stuff in the engine bay of my 90 civic CX and i didnt want to mess around with that anymore. i also didnt want to cage the 90 because i learned how to drive in it way back in the day, and its just been around for ever. so i elected to go with a 1998 civic CX i got for dirty cheap. its really clean for what i paid for it. so we got to work quick and pulled the stock y7 out. its a back up block now in case someone blows up their d and needs to get back in the game quick. rusted in a little test fittin to check stuff out. they look so small. haha

since i want to drive my car to the track, i found myself with a problem. its about an hour and a bit drive to get there, sometimes up to 40 minutes in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic on the high way. the car was getting heat soaked really bad.
i would get to the track, and have to wait 2 hours before i could race or else i was just wasting time. so i decided ill go water to air, with a reservoir for ice and water, and just replace the ice when it melts. in comes Rob from RTFab. he made me a KILLER reservoir and i got him to snap a couple fab pics. for anyone in the lower mainland,if u can get rob to do some work for you, do it! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() finished product i got myself a bilge pump and a nice 14inch core too

there are some other "problems" with the new car. the first problem is its heavier. i figure if i can get the car to weigh the same as the ED then i will go faster no matter what. so i got to work!! haha
the dash is going back in, but im going to try to lighten it as much as possible. i want to see this car at 2000lb or less! custom carbon cotton bezel courtesy of darin next thing i had to fix from last year was my gearing. it was so shitty with the stock si gearing. man, i would hit 3rd gear and it would take sooo long for the rpm to rise. it was not optimal. i would cross the line around 7000rpm and it just was not working for me. so i got my hands on a set of zc gears, finally, and swapped everything into a y8 tranny. heres my awesome bearing puller. im so glad i got this thing! and hopefully you can chime in bone, does this look all good and proper? i used std 3rd w/o any mods.

yet another problem i had to fix.... the cylinder head! i just didnt have any luck with the a6 head. so im going to try with a z6 head this year. i am getting a colt cam, and its going to be a pretty wild little profile. i cant wait to try it out. should make most torque from 6000-9000rpm. perfect.
fresh 3 angle valve job, ported, ready to rock. i also tossed in a walbro for now. if it doesnt flow enough for my goals ill add a bosch inline. (reused the stock sock) i rebuild the engine for curiosity sake. everything was good except the cyl walls has some decent gouging and one piston had a bunch of pits from a ground strap falling off. i polished the SRP out and put it back in. the a6 SPR's with a z6 head should give me a nice little bump in compression too it still needs a cam in it, my colt isnt ready yet. but i have a stock z6 cam i can use. or a y8 zex 300.

i went back to solid mounts, the same as i had in my ED. going to try and run the tranny mount and both front torque mounts if i can fit em both.
darin cant stand a dirty engine bay so he gave it a quick douching before after. not bad for 15 minutes and no pressure washer. haha.

heres the wiring harness. its a y7 harness. i swapped and extended the IAT sensor plug, did a 2 wire IACV conversion, swapped the dizzy plugs from OBD2A to OBD1, swapped injector plugs to OBD1, and added in a resistor box. this pic is right before i did the resistor box.
car chillin in its own filth since im broke as ever ill be using these on stock struts and seeing what happens. stank2 drags with maxspeed perches. they were cheap! got my canadian made kirkey lookin pretty mean and pretty clean in gold baby got it in the ebay. just need to fab up a mount or buy one and take it from there i cant wait. heavy metal paint edelbrock there is still a lot left for me to do. my issue right now is a lack of funds. so im putting wants behind needs and getting done what needs to be done to make tuning passes and so forth things that need to still be done is the manifold, the exhaust, dump tube, charge piping, routing the plumbing for the water to air, setting up the ecu, swapping over my BOV from the old car to this one.. etc, im sure there is much more. some things ill be getting in the near future are progress drag coils, a full cage from S&W, new 24.5 slicks, maybe a meth kit (way cheaper than race gas) body work and more gutting once the cage is in. a side project with this car is to drive long distances with the water to air pump off, putting a nice warm charge into the engine. i think i can get some really decent gas mileage from this car as well as it being very fast!

block is going to be in the upper 9's for CR, since its using A6 SRP's with a z6 head and a metal layer head gasket. eagle rods, taiho bearings, NPR rings, stone hone, ARP's @ 65ftlb

1996-2000 engine bay is the bomb. Are you going to be making a crazy manifold like the one on Daren's car? Hope you get this thing to the track soon.... I also have lots of work left :s
