My new car- 1970 ford fairlane

just got this on sunday, my new project since the ex took the ed.

the parts car for the 70 fairlane, a 70 torino.



ford 9" rear


air shocks- would explain the rake of the car


so far

rear drivers 1/4 panel needs to be pulled out more and then weld the holes from the vinyl top. then prime the whole car flat black. im thinking ill do a matte black with a flat clear once all the body works done.

problems so far
the 302 under the hood has a bit of a rod knock, good thing its only a 302.

all drum, on the bright side its power assist drum and not manual drum

interior leaves a bit to be desired, but i have all the pieces to put it back together.

wrap up
needs a new engine
needs some interior work
needs bodywork and paint

good
tranny is strong,
electrical is great
drives nice and strong, suspension feels good.

not bad for free. thanks to a friend who wants to see at least ne more torino/fairlane on the road and wants me to be the other one

ive actually aleady got a picture of the car i want to build

matta black with a neon blue, orange or green pinstripe with the same color similiar color wheels. extras im going to add the gt hood and such

im going to put my extra 289 that i was builing for my 64.5 mustang, its a cool block. 10.5:1 compression forged component 289

later im going to do a 447 stoker 351w, backed with a c6 again. but thats later down the road. i really need to get the car running and driving so i can do the bodywork

yea in this generation there were only 2 year the 70 and the 71. a bit hard to find parts for but i dont think ill be needed alot of original parts

o yea, its not actually a mouse nest haha that what i thought too, but the car sat with its hood up for a guess 3-4 months and the leave and crap for the trees fell all over that engine. i cleaned it up a bit but once i bring it home itll be pressure washed of all the dirt, grease and whatnot

It sure doesn't take long for stuff to collect on any car that isn't running. A good pressure wash will do everything under your hood a world of good. I hadn't even realized that particular body style was only two model years. I suppose I'm showing my Ford ignorance, since I can break down the model year changes on most all the GMs. That will be peppy with the 289, but ought to be a monster with the Windsor stroker motor. :td:
