okay so i just picked up a used header for my d16 y7.
just have a few questions before i decide to put it on. For one i have a 99 civic hatch so i am obd2 and this header only has a hole for one o2 sensor. Also the stock cat is built into the manifold. so basicly what would be the ideal way to set this up? i know one option would be to just bolt it up and hook the header right to my mid pipe and leave it with no cat and only have one 02 senser pluges into the top. Im guessing this will cause my check engine light to be on but just wondering how it will run like this. What other options would you guys suggest? |

i have a o2 on my header and then one after the cat, no lights at all, and if the o2 ligh is on than your ecu will tell your car to give it more gas meaning it will run fine(well you wont notice until it comes to your pocket money) but you will lose gas quick...i have no cel..

If you do this and run it without the cat and 2nd o2 sensor, it will throw a code for it and possibly run in basemode (dont know for sure on this). All obd2 cars will look for the second o2 which tells the ecu the cat is working properly (ie. filtering your exhaust), so without it the CEL will come on. I say try it and see if it really messes with your tune with a cel, the power gains from this most likely wont be huge on a y7 but every little bit helps NA.

Anyways though i got the header installed and i just hooked up the one o2 sensor and am running with no cat right now. the check engine light is on but i expected that anyways. i would just really like to know what my ecu is doing to my engine by having my check engine light on. On the good side i took it for a quick boot and noticed a HUGE gain....and i still have my stock airbox and exaust piping so i cant wait to free all of that up. |

really? thats great to hear so your running a header with only one o2 sensor pluged in physically and the second one is "supposidly" pluged in because of this chip? Where did you find this thing and was it pretty easy to do.
also how did you like the gains of your header? im very impressed i noticed a big difference. |

i knew the o2 foolers worked just didn't know what kinda reliability to expect. thanx for clarifing.
i think i've seen them online from reputable dealers for between $40 and $55. hellhatch, where is yours from? i have a friend that needs one as well. p.s.- i only get intermittent codes, my light only comes on sometimes and doesn't affect performance when it does. when scanned it says something to the effect of "catalyst system below threshold" i believe.
