Ok well I bought some Nite Shades tail light tint spray and went at it. Problem is, it was kinda dark in the basement and I didn't realize how much I had put on there and that it ran in several places. I need to know how to get the paint off realllly good w/ out messing up the lights. Im gonna go buy a new can and repaint them in a well lit area lol. Any ideas?

haha could do that but when the person gets them and puts them on, they might be a tad bit mad and leave me some neg. feedback. Otherwise, I would lol. Will brake cleaner and steel wool not scratch the shit out of the lights? I have both of those right here, but I don't want to use them until I know for sure. These are nice lights and I don't want to fuck em' up. I would like to be able to redo them.

Hmm...I might just go ahead and try the steel wool and brake by pressing very lightly. If that doesn't work or I think it's leaving to deep or scratches, I'll go buy some paint thinner tomorrow if I don't already have any here. Thanks guys.

Ultra fine steel wool will not scratch. I believe any home improvement store will sell tripple fine, or ultra fine. Typically it's used for buffing hardwood floors and other wood work. I've used it to buff out paint runs on freshly painted model cars, and no issues!

regular $2.99 paint thinner and a rag work great. Done it a few times myself. (DON'T use LACQUER thinner... it will melt the plastic) Paint thinner will dissolve the paint and not harm the plastic. It's dirt-ass cheap, and the more you use, the easier it works. The sooner you do it after the painting the easier it will be, before the paint sets completely.

AIRCRAFT REMOVER. trust me, it works. it'll remove any paint surfaces. I got a exhaust from this guy and he painted it all black. All I had to do is spray it on and that shit just remove itself from the surface. you can wipe it off and spray again. beware DONT GET IT ON YOUR HAND CAUSE IT FUCKEN HURTS.

I'd rather recommend spray oven cleaner and steel wool and some water when you're rubbing it on, it's not as harsh as brake fluid and more forgiving too, it'll take a while, but in that time you can think about the stupid thing you've just done..........lol.
Spray outside in a WELL ventilated area, not your basement, you wanted to get high.......didn't you?????lol. Anyway, let us know how it worked. |

Acrysol (SP) we always used that for taking off overspray or anything like that, it works wonders, basically it is just a really strong paint thinner.
