Question Weight reduction questions

I have a 99ex. I'm about to instail racing seats, and I want to strip my intearior. What's the best way to get that black sticky crap(sound deadaning) off the flore of the car? My car as a sun roof, I want to remove the glass and the motor. Does anyone know where I can get a insert(fiberglass, carbon fiber, lexan or anything that's lighter than the glass)to go where the glass goes. Last question, has anyone used the FAL lexan window for a 96-00 ek coupe? Are they any good?

Thanx

I don't think you will get so many LBS with stripping EVERYthing... it's almost lightweight material, If you want some lbs in less, Get out the Subwoofer, run less gaz in tank, no AC, no spear and jack. you can save 100-300lbs EASILY.

If you want lighter windows, think about polycarbonate, they are strong, very well and race car like nascar and rally use it.

another trick, (i take no responsibility if this doesn't work) that my buddy knows of (guy has been running it for about 6 months) is to use a lawn mower battery in replacement of your car battery. a lot lighter, and as long as you odn't thump your system while the car is off, you'll be fine.

I talked to a guy who races mustangs today. He said to uses a small troch (with the flame yellow not blue) and heat the stuff, then scrap it out. As far as seats go, I have two Recaro's there non reclining race buckets. There made for some kind of fiberglass. They feal much lighter than the stock seats.

When people say that the FAL lexan windows are not for street use....why???
Do they leak? Do they fit like crap?
Thanx guys for all the help and input on this

don't listen to SQAD. Do the lexan if you want. The shit's waaaay tougher (and lighter) than glass and if you bolt in place it'll be a lot more secure too. Only problem is that unlike the uber expensive MarGuard Lexan, regular Lexan scratches pretty easily. You're 3 rear windows are probably good for 30-50 pounds depending on vehicle.
Besides, how many people on here do you think run some kind of "not for street use" equipment on their cars? The only reason FAL windows don't have DOT is because that shit costs $$.
Also, by shedding the glass and sunroof, you drop a lot of weight off the car above the belt line. Helps move the center of gravity lower. More stability. Less body roll. It's good for you, too.

all the fitments I've seen have been pretty good. You can use window putty when you install to keep the water out.

For removing sound deadining material, use dry ice. Put it on, let it work then scrape off. It saves about 10 to 15 pounds from a test that someone did. Thats just the sound deadining after you remove the carpet. I say just remove the carpet and other things and leave the little sound deadining crap in unless your bored.lol
