Pumped gas now car wont start - D-series.org

on my way to work pumped gas and after the car didnt start
i really dont know what to check first i panic because i was late to work so had someone pick me up and il be going back to check it on lunch
i didnt hear the fuel pump prime how can i check make sure its not my ecu or even distributor please helop its my daily

sounds like the main relay

if fuel pump is not pumping, check the main relay like said above first before anything else.

Turn the key on, if the check engine light comes on and does not go off, its the relay.....if u turn the key on and the check engine does not come on at all "check your fuses"..................if all checks out then its possible ur fuel pump decided to take a shit............

not 100% accurate. I have had it be the main relay and the check engine light go off as normal. IT can be partially broken from what i have seen. otherwise you are right.

ok so i went back turn key and it started kinda bogged i had to gas it up a bit but managed to stay on and drive to work can it still be the main relay

yes when it gets hot it will stop working till it cools down....did it only bogg when you first started it or did it do it the whole time you drove it to work???

its bogged when it started then drove ok because my ignition timing is off lol but definetly im swapping out the main relay thanks guys

i almost did that one morning when i had like 30 minutes sleep, pulled up and was ready to swipe my card...then realized there weren't any octane buttons and backed the car up to the proper pump.

You actually cant. Diesel nozzles are bigger than gas ones so they shouldnt fit in your gasoline required car

heheh i tricked my friend like that he was tried it was late and he went to put gas in his car. Well this gas station had green pumps. So i let him pump some gas then i was like dude your putting diesel in it. He freaked out and stop pumping and was like crap what do i do now.

i just had a customer bring in his Chevy 3500 van in and his son had borrowed it and didnt have money for gas, so he went into the garage and found a fuel can and assumed gas was in it... turned out the gas can was full of water! $1500 later, its running again

If you have a pre74 car then its possible. They dont have the unleaded fuel filler flap thingy. On another board there was a guy who did it, he ended up swapping out the engine.
