Default CEL after driving awhile, no engine problems. Happens once a year, randomly...

A weird one for you all. I get a constant CEL, no engine issues, after driving at speed for awhile (greater than 30-45 minutes). Engine runs perfectly fine, no changes, until I park and shut off the engine.

Next time I start up, it's gone. No codes, nothing.

Thought it was only when you drive >70mph - the last time it happened was with the wife driving almost a year ago. But I just drove 70+ mph consistently for the last 15 min on my commute home with no CEL. It could be time and speed based, dunno.

Thinking it may be an intermittent ground on my s300 - I'm gonna hook up the laptop next time it happens.

I'll also try an ECU reset - but with this rarely happening, no telling if that's the issue or not.

Any thoughts, ideas, or theories? Thanks!

Thx for the quick response. Yah, not having the code aggravates me a bit. Since it happens so rarely, no telling when it'll crop up again.

EDL? Did u mean ELD?

Will keep those in mind - hopefully I can solve it soon. May need to take the laptop up the coast for a long drive.
