Default Random Hiccup - I'm stumped

occasionally my car will "hiccup" and the CEL will blink for a split second. It's not actually setting a code... If my car sets a code the CEL stays on until you clear it.

May not be anything major.... just annoying.

What would cause it? It just randomly hiccups (loses power and the CEL comes on) for a split second. I just put in a different wiring harness to get rid of codes.... and I had to do a few mods to the harness, but everything was soldered, shrinked, and wrapped in electrical tape and cable manager.

I didn't notice it until I bolted the ECU back up in the kick panel, so I guess it's possible a wire is nicked and is occasionally shorting or something.

Any ideas?

Is it only when driving? Or has it done it while sitting and idling?

I personally would start it up, let it idle, and go around the bay shaking/tugging on parts of the harness. If it does it when you tug a certain area than most likely a short.

OR, maybe it's randomly misfiring for a split second and it's about to throw a dizzy code but doesn't? LOL, idk man...

Edit: Try replacing cap/rotor and plugs/wires.

If you have nicked wiring, it's possible it could be shorting. When was the last time your plugs/wires were changed? Could have a random misfire....

Just changed plugs and wires.

Only does it when driving around.

I agree with STAYPUFF578, had the same issue with a friends car and it ended up being a bad connect on the harness where the ECU connects.

it could also be the rotor cap as well if not a wire, but def check connections n all that good stuff first
