If you dont completely understand how exactly exhaust flow works, READ THIS!!!
RS*R Ex-Mag GT-II EG6 Exhaust ![]() RS*R Ex-Mag GT-II EG6 Exhaust ![]() BliTz Nur Spec-R Exhaust GDB WRX/STi 2002-2007 BPM GT SERIES Exhaust GDB WRX/STi 2002-2007 ![]() AMS Evo 7-9 Exhaust ![]() EF Civic Invidia Exhaust ![]() Now that you know what I'm talking about let's get started... I'm starting this thread because I have noticed a mass mount of people talking about it (like it's the new "hawt" jdm thing to do) in a few of the forums/sites that I frequent. You may most noticably find this type or style exhaust on JGTC cars (Japan), DTM cars (Europe), D1 Drift cars (USA), and even on some WRC Rallye cars, just to name a few. Trust me, it's made for more than just cool looks. The theory behind the angled exhausts is that "The least bends or folds that it has, the better the air flow is". That has proven to be true in most cases. Why do I say "most cases"? Because given the examples of the types or race cars that I just previously listed, they are most commonly force induced (Turbo or Supercharged) and even in the cases that they are not force induced, they are still a exclusively made (race only), high-output engine builds. Thats why they are called "RACE CARS". With little to no full bends, it's closer to a straight out flow for air once it leaves the engine. This usually eliminates the need to go over or around the rear suspension like cars are equipped from the factory. This also offers a louder sound (which isnt always a good thing) and a deeper, "throaty-er" tone, which is what most people want instead of the "farty" eBaY muffler sound. And usually when you see any car with this type of exhaust, it's on either a Subaru or an EVO or maybe even a 350Z and like I said before, F.I. or high-output. There are many companies that makes these type of exhust (RS*R, Hayamé, Fujitsubo, BliTz, Invidia) but few of them are made for a Civic, and the ones that are made for Civics and FF cars, cost a pretty penny ($400+). So if you are thinking of getting the "m4d TyT3 JdM AnG00L" exhaust, consider this: ~Not just for looks ~Works best with F.I. or high-output ~Is rarely made for FF cars, and if you can find it, it costs a lot. ~Is really loud, even with a silencer. I just wanted to post this because I rarely make any "tech" threads even though I know quite a bit of info when it comes to body, wheels, suspension, or exhaust and because this is one of those things that needs to be clarified. I hope you all enjoyed what info I gave and feel free to add any key points or facts that I may have missed. Thanks, E.J. (E. Jeezy)

Yup, the angled exhaust is good for a reduction in backpressure of about 3%.

What about the rain catcher fart cannons. You know the ones that come out of the hole in the bumper then do a 45 for the sky. Do those offer better exhaust cooling or.....?

![]() Or like this? ![]() ![]() It's still an angled exhaust it's upward angle is just a bit moe drastic to follow the body lines and to exit exactly where the OEM muffler would. To eliminate the "Rain Catcher" affect, Apex Intergration (APEX'i), HKS & RE Amemiya make the upward angled exhaust but with the downward angled tip. APEX'i ![]() HKS & RE~Amemiya Style

Thats just sickening. Well, maybe because its a VW Beetle. Or maybe just because it a VW.
That would be more of the German's rendition of Bosozoku.

Discloser:
Also if you are considering this for your Civic or FF car, you should also know that the straight back & angle design travels just below the gas tank (in most cases) and the companies that sell those kind (like RS*R), they come with a "Warning" Waiver that states that this type of exhaust is FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY & requires that you must sign and send a copy back to the company and keep a copy in your car because IT IS ILLEGAL to run an exhaust directly under your gas tank. OBX does offer an angled exhaust for the 92-00 Civic that is angled but does not travel beneath your gas tank. It's sold on eBaY by a couple of companies and can be ad for about $250 Looks like this:
