Default MiniMe Rev Limit?

Hey guys, I think I have narrowed down my smoking issue to the headgasket or IM gasket. I have been wanting to do a minime swap with my D15B7 block and a Z6 head so I may as well do it while im changing the head gasket.

My question is what do you guys think the max useable rev limit I should go for the minime setup? I have a moates demon on a chipped P06 ecu and will be tuning with Neptune.

Wherever it stops making power without floating your valves. If it is a stock z6 head, I wouldn't go over 7500ish.

Ya I understand the floating valve part, seems like 7500-7700rpm would be a good area to put the limit but just want to see what anyone else has gone to safely. Just not sure what the bottom end can handle (since I think there's no oil squirters?)

i've rapped my little jdm d15bv to 7500 a few times it holds together no valve float but i wouldnt do it all the time. also with the d15b7 there are no oil squirters so i am thinking 7000 to 7200 tops. unless you dont want that engine to hold together long.

You have a 1.58 r/s ratio with the d15b7. The z6 is 1.52. Not much difference. Your head will decide your rev limit.

But the D16Z6 has oil squirters, which make a big difference for high revving.

I have takeing my d15b7 y7 mini me up to 7500 a many a time with the Itbs but now its boosted so I only go to 7000 to make the rods hold together. lol. I also have arp rod bolts and crower spring and ti retainers. If you don't have the rod bolts, after a short while the stock bolts will stretch causing engine failure. Trust me mine started to do it but i caught it in time before it hurt itself. Installed the rod bolts and some seal power bearing in the car and it still running real strong today with about 50k on the engine and 15k of that on boost 7psi

As for power up that high It will love to rev there in the lower gears but with my set up the power started falling off a little after 6500. it more or less leveled off.

Even if it did, oil squirters are not so much for high revving as for cooling hot pistons and actually can spray so much oil that you lessen the engine's acceleration.
