Why do you take the ostrich out of the car to program it? No Laptop? Is it throwing a solid cell or a code?

i have a laptop but the battery lasts like. . 20 minutes maybe? The computer is always turned on. . Its probably been turned on for the past year. . restarts every few days maybe?
Crome didn't detect a CEL but my car says there was one, guessing it was solid

When you are taking the ostrich out, are you leaving the ribbon cable in the ecu and unplugging it from the ostrich, or are you pulling the ribbon cable out of the ecu? My bet is that you have a shaky connection somewhere (like where the ribbon cable goes into the ZIF/DIP socket), and the slightest movement is causing all your issues. |

ya it was datalogging and the CEL said it was off in crome.
I leave the ribbon attatched to the ecu. I have it so the ribbon is comming out of the closed ecu, i shaved a bit off the side of the ecu so the data logging cable and ribbon could come out of the ecu without getting cut.

I dunno I put my old chip in and it works fine but the guy that gave it to me said it has more fuel/timing than the stock maps so i need to find someone around here that'll either burn me a new chip with a p28 map but a bit leaner. Mr crab? Do you happen to have a chip burner in that garage of yours? EDIT: I tried taking the ribbon to a computer store "not bestbuy or anything like that" but a random shop to see if he could fix the ribbon. . . He said no. I asked if he could take the ribbon outa the plastic 28 pin thing and move it back a bit. . . .He said no. Bitch.

Bump. Anyone around tacoma with a ribbon cable thingie? Or know if speedfactory has them in stock?
Xenocron has them for 10 bucks but i dont wanna wait for shipping =\
