Ok from previous post that I read from searching, some said that it will, some said only with an adjustable cam gear.
I messed up my a6 head, and need to replace it. I have Exospeed's a6 909 reground cam from the a6 which is fine. If I get a b7 head, will it work, or will I need to buy a cam gear to get it to run? Thanks, Brian G.

you didn't specifiy which block it is, bc if it's the a6 block and crank...no adj cam gear is required(but would be good idea)...the B7 is almost the same head as the a6. It's only if you use the a6 cam in the b7 motor as a whole that the cam needs to be dialed in....the crank sprockets are different between the 2...thus requireing different timing belt teeth

My bad. Yes, it is an a6 block. Ok, thats what I needed to know. Thanks guys.
Just wanted to make sure before the b7 head shipped. I know it is a good idea, and I will get one later, but summer semester kinda screwed my finances for the summer.

alright Mistabone-transzex, I'm confused again. Somehow you know the right answer to every d-series question.
a6 block, crank, p29 pistons, a6 timing belt. b7 head and rocker arm assembly. Exospeed 909 a6 camshaft and stock gear. Will it run fine, or do I need a cam gear?

it will be fine, but you'll want a cam gear later to dial in the powerband to your liking.
Remember, I figured out the B7/A6 cam swappage issues almost 6 years ago.

my bad mista...was thinking about the b7 head on the a6 block...fergot to include the 3mm or so difference in deck ht between the a6 and b7 blocks....was jus trying to make clear to origional poster that their isn't any special procedure for putting an a6 cam in a b7 head on a a6 block
which brings up a question for mista...I'veseen deck plates from RS Motor Works for the B16 is it feasable to make one for the d15 to run the z1 rods with the b7 pistons?...of course I mean tig welding the deck plate to the block and resleeving the block...with the cost of gx pistons from the dealers here I'm looking at similar cost variations to obtain the same end result...but I was thinking with the deck plate resolving the cam timing issues....it would allow us d15er's to run the aftermarket cams designed for the d16's ...in theory

Thanks Transzex. I know you figured it out a while ago. Been on Honda-tech and crx.honda-perf.org for a few years.
Thanks for your contributions to the wealth of knowledge.

Honda was way ahead with the D15B and GX motors. My plan....... D15B7 with VX rods and 01+ GX slugs. 12.1 compression and 1.62 RS, BIG Exospeed cam, the rest will be in the tuning.

but imagine being able to use d13b or d14a rods....I was thinking more along the lines of find out what deck ht is needed then cutting what I need from another block adding it to a b7 and then sleeving with either d16 sleeves or using aftermarket....possible getting custom rods down the road....

Alrighty, that will work. The adj cam gear will be on one of the next few paychecks.
Now I know advance on the distributor is moving it towards the firewall. Is it going to be the same way on the stock cam gear? Since this is stickied might as well get all the info up since theres been about 5 posts before mine on this topic.
