now I have my d16a6 block. I figgured out that this block with p29 pistons, y8 head and a6 headgasket rise the compression to 12,3. Is the a6 gasket ok? because its much cheaper then an cometic or apexi gasket

12.3:1, with a good tune (wide-band, heathy a/f and conservative timing maps), cold spark plugs and 93 or 94 octane is definately doable. what thickness and material is that gasket? is it OE honda?

You should be able to do it with race gas.....pump gas....iffy, unless you run some major timing, and have thatthing tuned perfectly

this is an awesome thread with lots of info. i just wanted to give props to builthatch for compiling all of this information for us. i've been thinking more and more about an NA build lately, and how much easier could it get then using a bunch of OEM parts, lol.

larry's NA roller waves are listed at 280 grams, pins 80 grams. what do stock z6 pistons weight? i'm pleasantly suprised by the performance of my z6, now i want to do a budget NA build...

i also am thinking that there would be a rod journal size mismatch to the d16 crank if you used anything else... it's been a while since i've had to think about this, but i think i am right....correct me please if i am wrong. another thing to consider, even if you could get an appropriate rod situation to keep it the right height in the cylinder is the relationship w/ a big cam opening the valves vs. the reliefs on the pm3. if you favor a flat top piston, you could look into a pg6b piston from 86-87 teg, however, with a big cam, there is concern about the valve reliefs in my mind. i know people who have had the reliefs machined for clearance, but i have no personal experience with using these pistons.
