The answer that I've come up with from several places is that the PG6 pistons have their reliefs sized differently from the P29 pistons and the general consensus is that they need to be widened to make it work with the valve placement on the SOHC vtec head.

so i'm thinking of going pm6's since people have confirmed that there will be no issues. i'm going to mill the head 0.02" and a 2 layer d16y8 Head gasket. that according to the comp calculator gives me about 10.75:1cr. And if i find a d16y8 head then it will give me 11.2:1cr.
nater- are you running a stock cam? |

I have 1mm oversize pg6b's in a z6 with .024" mill. I found that even without the gasket, I had .075" at overlap/tdc for one side(I or E, don't remember) and the other had about .100". This was done with the crower2na.
I did polish the tops of the piston, but minimal material was removed. Your results may vary.

your cam has a much larger duration and slightly bigger lift. I'm going to take an educated guess and say...... maybe?
EDIT... I read further down your cam card and saw that your measurements at .050" are only intake 235* 270" exhaust 223* 242" So you actually have a much smaller lift and a slightly larger duration; you may still hit. Last edited by boost ben; 07-09-2009 at 02:24 PM. |
