i got a fact for ya....building the D15B over the B7 WILL yield more power easier than the B7. I, personally, would take the B7 head and put it on the D15B block. Thats just me cause i think vtec is :tu: . Rods are a snap because they are the same as the D16 rods.

i didnt mean that the rods will snap, I meant that finding rods for the D15B in the aftermarket is easy and cheaper than D15B7/B2/B6/B8 and so on. And again, you can put an A6/B7(these 2 are the same minus the cams)/B2/B6/B8/Z6/Y8/Y7/Zc(sohc) heads will go on any sohc block.

what do you mean smaller head? And that .1 can go both ways with a different headgasket or milling of the head. Im using a A6/B7 in my high compression build, but then again im basically building a high comp D16A6 motor.
The A6/B7 head has a bigger combustion chamber than the p08 head(D15B, Z6), so it will lower the compression a little. But nothing milling the head cant fix.

First off, im under the impression that you have a D15B7 thats gonna be replaced with a D15B....is that right? Second, the head that is on the D15B IS a D16z6 head. Third, the size of the motor whether it be 1.5 or 1.6 does not impact the size of the head(only for the sohc D15/D16's). Yes, you can take a 1.6 block and stick the D15B7 head onto it with no problems.
If you choose the B7 to build-- you will be very limited on rod selection. Basically i would go N/a with the B7, but you can do a budget turbo build running low boost like 5-6psi with the stock rods. If you choose the D15B to build-- you have endless ways to build, buy parts and it be a strong build. That motor would be awesome N/a because of the better rod to stroke ratio, that will give you higher rpm limits. Its also a great motor to boost too.

so your running the D15B. Ok, well whats your budget? Going N/a is great. Although the turbo guys will chime in saying that its the fastest way to go slow.
Take a look at my build thread, the dyno numbers are for the B7 without tuning. I tuned it myself a while back and it feels like its around the 110-115whp mark now.

with the high comp A6 im hoping for around 160-175whp. Im also gonna add a 150 shot of nitrous to it as well. That should make 300whp+ for me. :td:
Just do your basic Intake, header, exhaust first. Then later get a better intake manifold like the Z6 or Y8 or aftermarket like skunk2. Then i'd look into a cam swap. If you dont want to shell out a bunch of money for an aftermarket cam, find the D16A6 cam and put it in the B7. Then you will want a tune and all that should net you around 120-130whp. That def will be a fun motor.

your 125hp is at the motor, not the wheels. You are making the same whp as my untuned B7 did....right at 98-100whp. The hp numbers i told you are at the wheels, which makes it around 160hp at the motor for the B7 setup. Rods are available for the B7 through Fjdistributors.
Just do some reading up here, theres tons of builds.
