i posted this on HT a while back... it is my swap i did.. it is a b-series swap... there is alot of good info, with alot of other people going to the dark side, i thought i would post it here as well...

please enjoy...

hey, ive stayed up late the last few night's reading the archive's and doing lot's of searche's but can't find out alot in term's of a 92 LS B18A1 with the 5-speed trany going into a 98 civic... i orderd the mount's from hasport on friday they should hopefully be here today... just need to know if i should use my stock wireing harness from my D16Y8 or do i need to pull the harness from the integra... i have the whole integra in the garge and i can use what ever i need... i got the car from a friend and he recently rebuilt the motor with performance piston's h-beam rods and some other shit... the trany was also gone threw and has a good clutch and pressure plate along with a lightend flywheel... sorry i don't have the spec's as to exactly what he did to the motor and tran's but i will find out and let you know...

i will post pick's as i do this swap and i hope people will let me know if i'm doing something wrong or if there is simply a better to do thing's...

what i know is this: i need the shift linkage from the integra, computer, possably the wire harness??? i already have a OBD2 to OBD1 harness with a chipped P28 that i was going to use with my D16Y8, vtec kick's in at 5200 and red line is 8500...

as far as axel's go... i'm prolly going to have my friend make me some to fit, he build's drive line's and axel's for a living so he know's his sh!t...

this motor does not have vtec, yet, i may do a LS vtec later on if it is worth it...

so there it is, i'm doing my first swap and i want to do it right... any opion's will be appreiceated...

i hope to have this done by next monday, i'll post pick's of the part's car as well, it was a clean 92 integra-before it hit the wall at 70mph... it still has a AEM big brake kit on it, AEM short shifter, front seat's still look and feel almost new, back seat's are the same way with the exception of a lil cigerret burn... that's all for now... thank's

here are a couple of pics of the part's car... to night i was able to get motor and trans ready to be pulled out, only need to remove the axle's and motormount bolt's... my hasport mount's came in today :thumbup: i had to get the Si braket for the rear mount as well as the clutch cable to hydro kit... it was expensive but worth it... so far i see a possable problem with the ls trany speed sensor... right now it uses a cable to go to the speedometer, mine is electric so i need to know if it's just a matter of switching the cable with the sensor from my tranny... or do i need to go buy something... thank's again

okay, this morning i stopped working after removeing the motor from the integy and prepping the one in my civic... want to say thank's to rudy for bringing over the cool ass air operated cherry picker and lorrie (HOTTIE) who just know's alot about civic's... here are some current pic's... the motor and trany in the civic is the same one i have for sale, let me know if anyone is interested... thank's

frame was so bent i had to cut off this mount to get the motor out...

only thing left to do is finnish removeing the axel's, then she's ready to come out...

last night i pulled the motor from the civic and i installed the pedal's and yes, it sucked... but its done and it looks pretty good... i also prepped the new motor by installing the HASPORT mount bracket's and the cable to hydro conversion... something doesn't seem right with it to me tho...i had to remove the adjustment rod for it to fit with the slave cylinder... i'm woundering if i needed to get a slave for the integra intead of the civic...? i also installed the mount on the rear sub frame as well as the bracket for the driver's side... damn, those mount's look sic... here are some pic's...

that's a nice dirty engine bay...


yes, i'm going to maybe clean it up... maybe
on secound thought, my car has been down almost two week's, i would rather spend the time getting it running again and worry about look's later when i have time to do it right...








thank's to another post i learned that this clutch pedal need's to be spaced out from the fire wall, i used four fender washer's for each side, 8 total... worked out great...

i took out my steering assy, i dont have a clock spring or airbag's any more so i wasn't worried about it not lineing back up...

well i got the motor in the car, one big problem tho... the mount's i got from hasport are great however the one on the driver's side donsn't fit... :thumbdown: i took some more pics so you can see what i'm dealing with... i'm not sure if it mount's a different way or if i was supposed to use a different bracket at the motor or if they simply sent me the wrong mount... i'll call them and see if i can find out what went wrong... suck's that monday is a holiday... =(
i hooked up the shift linkage and took out the the auto shifter assy and trew it in the trash can... i'm not going to cut a big hole in hump to install the shifter linkage to the floor, instead i cut out the part on the hump were the shift linkage bolt's to in the integra and i'm going to use that instead... under the car were the auto shift linkage went i'm going to take my air chisel and cut it out but i'm going to leave one side so that i can smake it over with a hammer and flatin it out so it fill's the hole... :thumbup: apply a lil seam sealler and there you go, no huge hole and i will be able to use the rubber mount from the integra that will fill in the hole in the floor... i will take some pic's after i do this so you can see what i'm talking about...

you know, i'm realy surprised as to how many people have viewed this post and no one want's to give any feedback... i thought i would at least have some some one telling me how im f-ing up or just getting a :thumbup: either way just thought i would point that out...

it simply doe's not line up with the braket on the motor...


i know it look's like the motor need's to move back in the car but it's back as far as it can go... the other mount's are hooked up and i have the floor jack holding up the driver's side... i put a piece of 4x4 wood on the jack so it wound't put a hole in the pan...

okay, i rebooted now my card reader is working again :thumbup: here are pic's i was talking about a minute ago...



the hump without the auto shifter, i'm glad it's gone =)




this is the part i cut out of the integra, befor trimming and drilling two extra holes for mounting purpos's...


back side... i'm going to trim were the second peice of metal is welded on... not sure how else to say it...


you can see what i'm talking about right here


it's kinda hard to tell but there are six holes in the cover i made, two toward's the front two at the back were the linkage will bolt to the two right in front of that... the two in front and the two in the middle are were im going to bolt it to the floor... it's cool because they line up perfact with the auto shift assy bolt hole's...


another angle, here you see the lil pocket were the auto shift linkage went threw... this is were i said i was going to cut off and leave one side so i can smack it over with a hammer flat then use seam sealer to seal it... just need to drill the two hole's in the hump so i can bolt up the linkage...

okay, today i felt like taking it easy and just did a couple of thing's... i now have the plate from the integra trimmed up and bolted in, i also cut out the pocket for the auto shift linkage... i cut out the shift pocket a lil different than i was planning, i think it actually worked out a lil bit better and was a hell of alot easyier than expected... i used my airhammer with a flat chisel end and from inside the car i simply cut between the floorboard and the pocket, i took out the spot weld's were i could reach whitch only left two toward's the front... i reached my arm threw the new shift plate i made and just bent it up and down until the spot weld's broke off... i then used a piece of fairly thin steel strapping to cover the hole... after i was done i used some seam sealer to bond the to piece's in my car... later i will go back and spot paint (rattle can) the piece's white... it came out for the most part, very clean... tomorrow i need to bolt the shift linkage up and put the interior back together and i belive i will be done with part of my build... :thumbup:

the radiator is in, new header is in, rewired my dizzy, had to use my alt from the Y8 so the wires would plug in, removed the intake, in the process of getting a complete Si intake assy, i made a steel braided line for the clutch master to the slave...
when i get this thing running i need to have the exhaust redone... the header is 2 1/2 or 3" in diamater and my stocker cat is i think less than 2"... its going to be very loud for awhile... not cool... :thumbdown:
i took some new pics, so check them out...


rewired dizzy, used the wireing from the Y8 dizzy... thank's civicguy81 for the tip on this... :thumbup:


what a f-ing mess... it's comming along tho...

finnaly got the motor mounts taken care of, another $70 at desert honda... im just glad this part is done...


brand new $60 header from ebay...

so far ive been using the stocker wire harnes, ive had to re use the wireing from my dizzy as well as my old alt, part number for thr belt you will to operate your alt is #351K4 this is a duralast part number... you will also have to make a monut for the top of the alt, i take some pics of what i did to give an idea...
as far as useing the wireing out of the tegy, i tried to remove it but the harness goes thorugh out the car, i just cut all the plugs and left enough wire for soldering i i need to use them later...
im also going with a 99-00 civic Si intake assy because i hear all the Y8 wireing will plug right in... ill letyou know if this is true or not... i hope it is... Brian


almost forgot, i had to lenghten the wires for the speed sensor, if you have a trany with a cable speedo cable, you can use the electronic speed sensor from a 99 D series 5-speed trany, im pretty any sure 96-00 D series 5-speed tranys will work but im using one from a 99 DX 5-speed and i know for sure it will work... going to take pics mow so they sholud be up in the next hour or so... thank's every one, Brian

oh yeah, i found out something today i thought was weird... the trany uses 10-30 motor oil... whoa, thats pretty weird to me... LOL, Brian

i have found out some very usefull information on wireing...
i found out that all the wireing needed to make the key come out of the ignition as well as to make your car think it's in park, how to hook up your cruise control to were it will turn off when the clutch is pushed in, as well as how to make it start when the clutch is pressed...

you can do all of this from inside the car were the auto shifter was, when you remove all the auto stuff, ie, shifter and linkage... you prolly noticed that big ass grey plug that went to the shifter mech, well all you need is a few wires right there and you are good to go...
i'll do another post in the morning with pic's and a better description...
it is some good shit to know... :thumbup:

in this pic you can see the four wires needed, the two big wires can either be wired together like i did, or you can run these up to your switch on the top of the clutch, these are the wires that will allow you to start your car...


in this pick you can see the two smaller wires, one is green with a white strip the other is black... when you wire these together the car thinks it's in park so you can remove the key... very important... you can also see the pink wire, if you run this wire up to the top of the clutch along with the black wire to the other switch this will enable your cruise control to disengage when the clutch is pressed... ill show a better pick of the top of the clutch with the switche's so you will know witch one does what...


the two wires that are twisted together are green with a black strip and green with a yellow strip, these two wires are for your reverse lights, they need to be run to the connector in the motor bay to the original reverse light conector... i'm not hooking mine up because there is a rumor that when you use a 5-speed ECU they will work automaticaly, im going to test this theory, if it doesnt work, ill be hooking them up...LOL

i have a very important annocement i would like to make.....


MY CAR RUN'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hell yeah, i still have quit a bit of clean up as well as bugs to work out, not to mention i need to get the exhuast redone oh yeah, my fuel pump has no power so we jumped it to another 12 volt sorce and just like that, the bitch started right up... it ran like shit till did the repin for the two wire IACV... and i had to bump the idel up a smidge... i will have new pics up over the weekend as well as a detailed report of what i did and how i did it... of coarse i had a lot of help... i will give a proper thank you to the people that helped with this project after i do the next few post's, i would rather have that as the last thing people remember... thank's as allways, Brian

here are some pics of the motor...
you see how i ran the wire's from the dizzy cap to the MSD box... also you can see all of the civic Si parts on the intake as well as the throttle spacer... you can also see how i tweeked the throttle cable bracket to work with my Y8 TC...
one problem i have is the speedometer dosn't work, so i need to figure that out... im sure its because the ECU im using is out of the integra and it used a cable for the speedo... i have a chipped P28 ECU, im not sure if im going to use it tho because its set up with vtec and i no longer have it... im told if the ECU cant find the vtec it will put my car into limp mode... i dont know if this is true but im not going to take the chance... if anyone has any guess's as to how to fix my speedo problem, please share... =)

i told myself i was going to take it easy and not run it hard, at least for a few days...LOL yeah, that did not go as planned...
so im driveing down n. on lamb toward charelston blvd, i get in the turn lane to head west (left), as i get to the light it changes to green so i keep going threw the light... well i noticed a 96-00 coupe with a CF hood and wheels... he was talking to someone in a 90-92 integra so i really never paid much attention to him...
well i got about 1/2 mile up the road and came to another light at sacromento, so i start slowing down and im now in 2nd gear... the light turns green and this kid in the coupe pulls next to me and gets on it... i just stabbed the gas and pulled him i had him by a bumper before i shiffted to 3erd, i was just walking away... so then we came to another light at the 95 freeway, he had some friends in the car and they were talking shit to him because he not only got beat but he got beat bad...
still at the red light he turns right and jumps on the freeway cutting off on comming traffic that had the right of way...
man, my first kill... the whole race was very short but it was the shit to me... :thumbup: :thumbup:

tomorrow night ill post some new pics... i installed a knock sensor and a rear o2 simulator... the simulator was easy... you can get to the wireing from inside the car... all you have to do is jack up your ride, unscrew the o2 sensor, un plug it then push the wiers up as far into the car as you can... then remove the center counsil and shift counsil, then remove the cup holder... the wires are right there... it will be the skinnyer of the two sets, the one that goes toward the front of the car... give it a slight tug and it should come right out to you... i had the hole in my cat welded shut, you can however use a big spark plug to fill the hole, the threads are the same... you need to buy a 02 simulator, and also you should cut the plug off your o2 sensor... this way it plugs in and you can do all the soldering in your house, then simply plug it in... here a link to see how to build your simulator, as well as the web site i bought my simulator at...

this web site helped me tremendously... it makes this job very simple... just pay close attention to the two black wire's... one is hot (B+) the other is ground...
