In short- blue LED's.

i didn`t use any coloured plastic and common lamps. instead of them 6 blue LEDs with resistors and paper for light dispersion. U will need LEDs with angle of light direction about 120°.

Just get pink LED's? Or red LED's and put some White plastic down, to make it lighter.

Just get wide-angle LED's. Theres no need to get all scientific on us here mang

normal Wide angle:

These would be awesome, but I don't think you can buy them on these '74' led's.

thats a good idea... but the idea of the diffuser was to illuminate the needles only. This was the best method of lighting the needles back in the day. Then they used a recessed bezel with clear plexi lightbenders (similar to halo rings on bmw headlights) that shone light onto the needles which sat lower than the bezel and could pick up the light. Then they switched to lightbending needles that used optics to illuminate the needles rather than shine a light at them.

But yeah replace the diffuser with a colour to get better effect, dont remove it, may as well get a torch and shine it from ur headrest onto your cluster! ROFL

he used a blue film to replace the original film to give the blue look, didn't
replace his bulbs.
