Ok many of you with the 92-95 civics know all about the rear disk conversion using 99-00 civic si or 94-01 integra rear brakes, well this is what i will refer to as stage one and non of that will be covered in this post, this post assumes you already upgraded to the rear disk but want more then the puny 9 inch rotors and dinky pads have to offer, well here is a cheap and easy way to upgrade to 10.2 rotors and much larger pads. I call it stage 2
Here is my 00 si rear brakes behind 16 inch slips. better then drum but still puny. ![]() now here is all you need to upgrade. 2002-2006 acura RSX base model or type s rear caliper brackets easily found on RSX forums from cars being parted out, got mine for 20 bucks. 2002-2003 civic SI hatch rear rotors new from any parts store, about 15 bucks each. 2002-2006 acura RSX rear pads new from any parts store. resuse the 94-01 integra or 99-00 si rear caliper. thats it its all a direct bolt on, the only issue i had was the new pads i bought were very thick and with the new rotors it was a very tight squeeze getting the caliper on i stopped turning the plunger in when i saw the seal start to roll over, so perhaps it was not actually all the way in, so i simply machined a little material off the pads, not the backing but the actual material that wears off any way, another alternative would be to have the rotor turned a little thinner then brand new. here is a comparison of the old rotors and new and old pads and new, look how much larger the pads are! and the rotors are a nice 1 inch increase as well. ![]() here it is all assembled ![]() and here it is with the tire on, looks much beefier and fills in the tire much nicer. ![]() any way thats it, now i just have to get time to do my front brake swap, as of right now my back brakes are actually larger then my fronts haha. feel free to sticky if you want to mods

i cant say i notice a difference due to the fact it started snowing just as i finished so no real good chance to nail them, but then again i always put a couple hundred miles on new brakes before i push them hard, but its pretty common sense to say that the increase in pad size and rotor surface/diameter has to deliver more stopping power.

actually not true that is one of the biggest myths out there, the head cheese at fastbrakes.com told me that the stock EG DX prop valve works perfect when doing a drum to disk conversion on a EG, in fact it started to lightly snow when i got the larger brakes installed on the rear but i still tested them in the parking lot just to make sure every thing was good and no squeaks or other sounds, and even on the light snow and with the larger brakes on the rear my front still always locked up first. the guy at fastbrakes is the grand master of honda brakes and and if he says the stock DX prop valve is fine for this set up i believe him. he did say it will be even better suited once i indeed have the larger front brakes installed, of course its never ideal to run larger rear then front but i ran out of time. but dont feel bad i did allot of research and you would be surprised how many people have heard it was required and took it as gospel truth, but in reality it turns out the stock EG prop valve is actually fine.

Thats a simple one, if you have a EG all you need is any integra from 94 to 01's complete front knuckle assembly, these can be bought complete with the calipers rotors and pads still intact from low miles wrecked cars all the time, i got mine from a 2001 GSR in washinton state that got a 5 lug conversion, the rotors and pads are like new still. however even though you can leave the prop valve alone you may want to consider installing a 91 ex 4 door master cylinder, the integra calipers have a larger plunger and you may find your pedal going closer to the floor if you keep the stock master cyl. the 91 civic ex 4 door will bolt right in and give you a 15/16th plunger.
