Got pulled over once with an scca jacket on and the cop noticed and let me off the hook for whatever that's worth.
Still lookin' for a car though, any suggestions? Looking for rwd and not too expensive I'm leaning towards the e30 325's and gt-s corollas. But I may end up with another honda/acura

I started back in 02' used to be pretty regular with the sac guys with a 95 civic coupe and then my car got rearended and in the middle of building my track car so I've yet to really get out the last couple years I was also working a lot to get my tower crane license so didn't have much time for it anyway..

Fsp is what I'd like to run in looks like a real fun class, and like you said dsp is definetely crazy, but I'm not sure how competitive I wanna get with autox just yet when I have a track car that's expensive enough.
I'm really leaning toward the gts, but they are hard to find

FSP is definitely fun class all kinds of cars have potential... civics (d15 egs and with a really good driver 96-00 civic hatch) especially. but ur looking at bmw 2002s datsun 510s vw sciroccos and rabbits, then u have newer cars that are suppose to be over dogs like FORD FOCUS and i think possibly the mazda3 can do alot damage if sumone decided to build one, then there are theories that an early mazda protege chassis with a newer protege motor can be a crazy build.... FSP is endlesssssss... and with the new big hoosiers that are out... it makes the game real interesting

and u need to try the SF region its where most of the big boys play :)

Well I got a 325is pretty stoked! Can't wait to take it out. Unfortunetly it'd fall under sm with its 4.1 lsd, but like I said I wasn't worried about getting too competitive.. at least for right now

a ZC motor was never offer in the US crx si.. that is why...

a D16a6 was offered... unless your block says d16a6 then your pretty much screwed.... but even if u ran STS2 ud prolly get owned by better drivers its best to drive in the right class

but the suspension is the big thing....

my car is just as stiff spring wise... but he just has better everything after that...

otherwise power he may have a little more since im still obd2 and no real tune...

if i stay fsp my build should be very quick
i just need a fresh tranny from a hatchback so i can get a longer 2nd gear.. and go obd1 with raised rev limit and then my 255 hoosiers :)

you can however swap to all the Si goodies and run CSP

or just swap a bseries and run SM :)

When you're starting out, it wont matter what class you are in... its just going to be all about you vs. you for a long time.

I'd let a SOHC ZC run locally against me as long as I knew it had an Si trans, and probably an MPFI-converted DX with a DX trans. It never hurts to ask the local STS/2 crew if its ok. As long as you arent taking away their championship points, it shouldnt matter to them.

Yeah, $3000 is a lot. That's why 2010 is probably more likely, one more year to prepare the car and improve our driving. Probably see how we do in the 2010 Divisional first, no point of going to Nationals if we can't even win the Divisional.

I have decided to ditch STS2 after being in the class since 2004. I'll be officially running T-XP (Street Tire, Unlimited Prep). Though my car will also work as CSP, DP, or SM2, I'm just not going to worry about classes for a while and see how it goes. I've got a few cheap mods I've always wanted to try out on the car... nothing permanent unless I want it to be.

I've only done divisionals a few times, and after doing one HPDE/TT day, I've realized the cost/seat-time ratio of autocross only makes sense for me at the local $20 level. I love autocross, but the whole ordeal of nationals is not worth it to me, especially since I dont appreciate the social aspect of it as much as most people do.

The cost of tires/gas/hotel is much more expensive for HPDE/TT, that is something I do 3 to 4 times a year at the moment. I will probably be a dedicated TT driver in the future and auto-x when there are big events.

my main goal was to run Honda challenge by the time i got out of school...

but after doing finance work on how much i would need... i said no ....

and i wasnt going to do HPDEs as I was lookign for competition and not comparing times to other HPDE people... cause theres no pressure.

thats when i turned to autox and quickly learned that its what i like... rules, competition, and soon learned how hard it is to go fast... 2-3 hpde is enough to fund a whole year of local competition.

I do my racing on a budget so I can afford to do it often:

Local autocrosses... 3 clubs in my area put on monthly events for $20. I can usually make 2 if nothing is going on.

One-day track days... PCA and S2k and BMW clubs are the most likely to have these. You go to the track, do 3 half-hour open sessions, then do your timed hot laps, then go home. All done.

Autox practice days... One club has them here. $20 gets you as many runs as you want. I do about 20 before I start worrying about killing my tires. This is a great time to test new setup ideas.

Yep. I'd say we are. Lots and lots of top drivers come from Austin, Houston, Dallas clubs.
