Alright, well it has then vac advance thing where VTec is on B-Series, it has the weird dist. that has external coil. I want it in my 4g civic. It's on the back on the tranny just to the left of where the starter is bolted in. If it has vacuum advance its an 86-87. Engine mount is on front of block. I'm not up on which year a 4g Civic is but Hasport may have a mount that works. If not, it's off to the drawing board. Just don't use the two holes on the head for a motor mount as they are in aluminum and I wouldn't trust hanging the engine from the head area. I have fashioned a mount out of billet aluminum using the front mount area but it's for this engine into a Mini, different application but similar concept. Good luck.

The 4g civic starts from 88' onwards. Looks at the valve cover screws, the 86'-89' ZC has the 4 valve screws on top of the valve cover and the later ZC models has the valve screws on the side of the cover and also at the center of the valve cover where the plugs are. There are a lot of different between this 2 ZC engines.

It seems that there is always a confliction with the term ZC. Quite often the 86-89 USDM D16A1 engines are misconstrued to be ZC's. They are not unless they are stamped with the ZC on the block.

As to valve covers the 86-89 D16A1 has the nuts on the top of the valve cover whereas the Civic DOHC has them on the outside of the cover.

This is a D series board yet the lowly DOHC D16A1 is not mentioned very often in the same breath as the more common SOHC D engines. The Civics have a JDM ZC and so does the Integra engine and most people confuse the USDM version as a ZC.

well the screws are on the top of the valve cover, but it is a new head, it could be a different head then what the block is, I dontknow what to do abotu it but i got it for $30 so its alright. The mounts are on the side like the other d-series. So i dont know i guess im gonna rip it apart and see what i can find. Alright well anything else difference about DOHC ZC and D16A1 i can tell what block it is, i wanna know the block cause i hear the d16a1 wont fit the 4g civics (88 - 91) alright. So any info on the block.

yup the 86' USDM D16A1 will not fit the 4g civic. All the engine mounting will not fit the 4g civic.

It seems that what u have is a mix n' match of the 86-89 DOHC with a later DOHC ZC, from what I have read. You might have the 86 DOHC top and a the 2g DOHC block. You can check the block serial number whether its at the front end of the block or at the back end (near the starter) side.

For me, I'm having the JDM 86' DOHC engine in my 3g civic. It came from a 1g teg and the block s/n is located near the starter end. The block number starts with ZC-XXXXXXXX.

Hope this will help u out.
