I had a 24oz monster and I'm still amp'd and I can't sleep. A6 Electrical. It was the paper and pencil test so I don't know the results, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to just pass it. There was some weird questions of stuff I've never seen and there was hella wiring diagrams, which take me a minute to see how power and shit is routed in my head. lots of voltage drops. Pretty fucking awesome though. they give you 4 hours which is hella time. Need to get some new books to study (the most update available).
It was funny, cause hella people from local parts store where there that I recognized.

electrical isn't really that bad. nothings really that hard once you do it a couple times.

My Electronics class was taught by the most monotone, boring mother **** alive, so I would pass out half the time. Good luck on the test.. I kep my books there a great reference.

some of the crazy questions.
is there any special procedures for working on LED's?
what a dotted circle in a wiring diagram is ( like a hockey puck)? twisted wire , shielded wire, modular wire, or conductive or magnetic something
battery voltage after the car's turned off. remaining surface charge
I can't think of any more. I'm sure they'll come to me while I'm reading through my book.

Those tests can be very easy, but change to extremely tricky.
I too hate electrical, but it is necessary to working on cars, so i suffer through lol.

Good luck! i go in for the A4 and A8 on tues.
don't apply full voltage to led use a 300 ohm resistor is a good guidline
and my guess about the hokey puck would be shielded wire.
j1850 twisted pair will look like a twisted pair of wires and i think the magnetic battery thing is bogus

I plan on taking them all in the next year and a half. tuesday, I'm taking a4,5, and 1 :-) I think you can study and get experience, but a lot of it is getting used to the tests.
^ dam, you know engine performance. awesome. do you have all the other certs.??
yeah, I found out today that it's a shielded wire,,,,, that's one I missed. yeah the only thing that sucks is I have to wait 4-6 weeks for the results. dam, it'll be time to take the test again by then.
formal training, or even reading ase books > BS on the net and hear say

My teacher said the L1 really isn't as hard as you'd think and that it was kinda a joke, said I ought to pass it no problem. I waited to long to jump on this test date, so I'll have to give it a go next time. Let us know how you do!

took; brakes, suspension/steering, and engine repair last night. engine repair was the easiest. reading metric mikes, measuring journals, guides, "installed spring height", . I know engines and engine management. brakes and everything else is like if it works cool, don't fuck with it. o and electrical is pretty mandatory. I mean, as far as stuff I've really worked on since I started fucking with cars.
