Would a DX 5spd ECU work with an EX 5spd tranny?
I'm not sure why it wouldn't.

It will work just fine

just as a dx auto tranny will work with a auto ex ecu right?

I personally know nothing about auto trannys, but I don't see why the same logic wouldn't apply.

itll work just fine as long as its auto to auto and 5 speed to 5 speed. although you can get the auto ecu to run for a 5 speed with some soldering.

Would you know how this is done, or would it just be easier to get a manual ECU.

Wouldn't that throw all kinds of CEL's?

The only reason I wanted to know if the DX 5spd ECU would work with an EX 5spd tranny was because having a DX engine now I would have to do some tinkering to the ECU. To avoid the CEL's for the vtec oil pressure, and the knock sensor. Which I'd rather not do. If I ever decide to do a mini-me swap I already have a vtec activator(Field vtec controller) so I wouldn't need the EX ecu for that. This is assuming that the DX ECU would have acceptable fuel maps for vtec.
So I guess I'll be going DX. Thanks! :)

if you do go mini me, you need more agressive fuel/ignition maps in the vtec operation rev range. the dx is more "across the board" when it comes to these maps.

That's what I was afraid of. According to Jackson Racing's website however, the S/C EX only gains 9 HP over the S/C DX. And I'm sure a couple(hopefully) of HP come from the EX exhaust manifold/cat location. Which I already have. So I'll worry about the mini-me swap when I need a few extra HP. Or I'll just do a B20 swap. Trust me. I'm tempted.

And which would be faster, a manual DX tranny, or an auto DX tranny?
