changing out my tranny tomorrow morning (blew my old one from lack of oil, denied-fault of a car shop i USED to go to). any suggestions or tips from anyone? i plan to just jack it up, take off everything i need to via Chilton's and Helm's manuals, support the tranny with my jack, unbolt the mounts, lower the jack so everything is being supported by the engine mount (i've been told thats hte best way to do this), then unbolt the tranny (i'll probably loosen it while the tranny is mounted still), slide it off, and reverse to put it back together. thats not exactally what i'll be doing but basically. i gotta go tonight to buy some new extensions (i broke my big one last night), new shifter bushing (putting in my short throw), and a torque wrench. i may get a breaker bar too, depends how much it'll be.

i know people here have some kind of advice.... anyone?
well day one went by with little progress. i started taking things apart, but i didn't have a ball joint removal tool, so i thought i could just undo more bolts in the suspension to get enough clearance to remove the axles. well i got the passenger side out, but i could not get the driver's side out fo rhte life of me. so i spent most of the day trying to find someone to come pick me up to take me to teh store to get the tool (it was a free weekend here at school so most people went home). i finally got it and i got the driver's side taken care. then i tried separating the passenger's side to give more clearance but for some reason it wouldn't come apart, so i said screw it. i finally got hte mounts undone then lowered the engine and tranny and started undoing the bolts and i ran out of sunlight and there are no street lamps. so i'm done for hte night, tomorrow i gotta go out there early and bust this thing out. so any mroe tips please i'd welcome them

It looks like you know pretty much what you are doing, just make sure you follow you manuals and you're be fine.
