I'm thinking about taking off my reative header and putting on a 4-1 race header, anyone know what the pros/cons of this will be, and which header is the best. Thanks in advance

i couldnt say which 4-1 is best as the car needs to be tuned to your header....if you just bolt one on u may experience a gain or no gain at all....pro-better high end power, con-loss of tq from low to mid range power. but ive heard the dc 4-1 is a great add on....also depends on the application....

I've heard alot about the DC header, doesn't RPS make a race header and collecter.

The Bisimoto Header is a true Race header ... Not like 90% of the comercial Headers on the market ... it actually makes good power.
The Dynoplot below compares a heavily modified z6 manifold with a 2.25" collector (flows as good as most aftermarket headers) with a Bisimoto equal length stepped header with a true merge 2.5" collector

http://www.hadamotorsport.com/FireballedHeader1.JPG

As you can see it made 8HP with solid gains across the board. This was on a stock high millage Z6 with basic bolt-ons, a 2.4 mandrel exhaust and a comptech ice box intake ... this should make even more power tuned and with a built motor.

There is a bit more info here ...

checked the price for that very nice header.....$589.00+$140 if you want it jet hot, seems a little salty for 8 horese.

Definately a little on the high-price side. But not only are you buying a great performing header, but also a nice piece of sculptural artwork!

8HP is a pretty Damn good increase ... on a basically stock motor, We expect much greater gains when this header is bolted up to a High compression, big cam race motor...Stay Tuned ... dynoplots from this header bolted to built D16Z6 should be available pretty soon ...hopefully

What is more impressive is is the power and torque curves ... with solid gains acros the rpm range. Most after market header plots I have seen were way more peakier ..making most of the power in a very narrow band.

The price when compared to a comercial mass produced header my seem high ..BUT you are getting a hand-made, high quality header with a True merge collector ... If you compare the price of the Bismotor header to other similar race headers from SMSP or HiTech ... which go for $1000+ you realise what a bargain this header actually is.

Barney,

What mods are you running to put down those numbers ... they are pretty nice for a D16 ... and Tag's dyno numbers are a bit consevative by comparsin to the other Dyno's in the GTA ... so you are doing allright

also i love the header i took it out open header with out o2 with my new trac bar and radils felt great tires were cracking loose only when i hit 5400. just finshed port matching head int and exh side cleaned up head little put isky vavle spring and retainers also cam and adjustable cam gear and go from my a6 mani to a z6 so it should feel pretty big diffence and o2 is going to be hooked up im waitng for the eldobroc many for z6 im about to just buy the eldobroc y8 mani

IMHO one of the best headers for the D series is the power core header from landspeedracing.com. Its build quality is second to none, and it is a perferct fit.

onesickcrx,

THe flange was bought and welded into place at Zoro Muffler in TO. They had the appropriate 2.5" flanges in stock that would work with the Cat.

I have an Apexi four to one one piece........I used to have a DC 421. I lost some torque when i made the switch, but gained top end HP. I like it.
Only problem is the huge collector.......it hangs low, and can be easily crushed if you car is too low.

What ever you do dont buy one of those SS autochrome kamikazi mock up header. I did and regretfully wish I had spent my 210 bucks somewhere else. The quality is very good, fit is near perfect but its not 2.5". Its pretty much STOCK!!! I cut it off where the 4-1 goes to the collector and had a new 2.5" one made. also the ports are not equal lenght as advertised. the gains were definatly noticable on the bright side but then again...I'm also supercharged so I felt ZERO difference on the bottum end. I would go with the bisi but here in FL I cannot live without my a/c. Especialy when it rains and the windows fog up :)

I put a Ractive 4-1 on my D15B7 and it really helped top end and believe or not, even helped bottom end some, but hurt midrange.

The great thing about the Bisimoto head is that it uses a true Burns Merge collector. If you all know, the BURNS collector itself is already pricey for a small piece of metal. The design of the Burns collector is different than just a pipe welded together to look like a collector. the Burns collector is more efficient in design than 4 pieces of pipe welded together.
http://www.burnsstainless.com/MergeCollectors/cutaway_big.gif

Also the Bisimoto header has a venturi design which helps improve Exhaust velocity.

Make sure you look for those 2 important factors in a highly engineered header. Anyone can make it look like the Bisimoto header, but are the proper designs implied to make it as efficient as possible.

check out this header article that is pretty interesting.

I'm proud of my 4-2-1 pace setter, that I paid 250$ CAN taxes included...

Good deal, good hp, good torque, not 1000US for a BIsi, i think that's good investement :)

maybe not good for HARD race, but street is very suitable ;)
