my engine rocks horribly under acceleration and deceleration.. and i've seen that filling your motor mounts with a polyurethane-type caulk/sealant will do wonders for it... so my question is... which mounts should i fill? should i leave the car on the ground, or lift the entire front end?

My motor does that too. I looked at filling the mounts, and the easiest one to do would be the mount next to the timing belt, and since it is so high it is easy to get to. Seems that filling the mount hooked to the passenger side of the tranny at the same time would be beneficial because the engine wouldn't lose alignment under torque (the right side of the engine might lift higher than the left a bit). I would recommend doing those two first and seeing if that does the trick.
If not, you may be stuck filling the rear mount or buying new mounts if the old ones are worn out. That rear mount can be a real bugger because lots of stuff has to be torn off of the engine just to get at it, unless you can find another way of reaching it.

Its a piece of cake with patience. The hardest mount is the rear mount. Kind of a bitch to get out. Get a floor jack and some stands. Jack the car up and put it on the stands enough for you to get under it. Then get a block of wood on the floor jack and support the engine. Do one mount at a time(you can do two if you feel brave), the rear mount, lower trans and engine mounts from below, upper engine and trans mounts from up top. This may take you a couple of weekends to do due to the curing time of the sealer. You can pick up the sealer at any glass repair shop for about 20 bucks a tube. Be warned however, at idle it will vibrate like a mofo and your steering wheel WILL shake!! This not only eliminated my wheel hop but also improved my traction at launch a good deal.
