VTEC motor from wrecked 96dx 750.00 good price?

I was out at a local junkyard during lunch and ran across a wrecked out civic dx with a vtec motor. The guy wants 750 for the entire motor. Is this a good price.

Offer him 800 for the car, depending on what's still good and whats wrecked you could make some dough. I'd say for a wrecked 96 DX 800 is a good price for you and him! Motor I wouldn't pay more than $400 for esp since you don't even know if it runs or when the last time it ran was.

damn now i feel like shit. i paid 525 for my more with head and the guy told me it was built to handle 25psi. two days ago i pulled the oil pan off and the rods were freakin toothpicks! no way i was going to throw that kind of power at them. he also said it had a skunk2 stage2 cam with an AEM cam gear. that stuff was true but the bottom end was shit. so im gonna let him know that if i dont get back atleast 200 to buy rods that there is gonna be a problem.


not to threadjack, but dont pay that much for a motor because you really dont know whats wrong with it.

thats when you know you're getting jipped. when hmotorsonline is cheaper than your junkyard. hmotors is a great site.

best place to get motors from in my book. even some of the local shops out here have better prices. some junk yard try to stab you with prices for engine some dont.

I just paid the same amount for my ZC. 750 for the whole car.
