well the other day i noticed a noise when my turbo was despooling that sounded like a bird irritator. Its three really distinct high pitch notes. any ideas what could be causeing that.

u got a sound clip? could be shaft play causing the impeller to rub

are you even producing boost at that point?? my guess is no so i think that eliminates compressor surge. can you take off the intake pipe (to the compressor) and fiddle with the impeller? any shaft play?

What the....See if its spinning at idle. It almost sounds like theres no oil in it and the fins are scraping the housing a tad.

its a lil to late ill have to take a look at it tomorrow.
i cant really hear it..but i hear the turbo whining in the backround is that what your talking about?

i know what your talking about. my shit used to do this as it was winding down. kinda sounds like birds whistlin right?
it's definetly the compressor wheel scraping on the housing. mine did that every time! sounds like a little shaft play to me. IMO i liked the way it sounded! to bad i was fuckin shit up in the process!
