so i havent touched the suspension on my car ever since i got it, except raise it up like 4 inches b/c it was totally SLAMMED (on ground controls)

so i buy a set of 4 illuminas for relatively cheap, and todayi finally get around to installing them.

i take my rear strut assemblies to find that i was riding on stock shocks for the last 6 months. and of course riding so low with the previous owner, they were both shot to hell.

so at this point i'm feeling happy that i bought those illuminas, but when i put them side by side with the stock shocks, i realize that the diameter of the shocks are like half and inch smaller, so that means my ground control sleeves wont fit.

so i have a problem now, how do i make my ground controls fit with those illuminas? urethane inserts? or should i just buy a set of nice springs and screw height adjustment?

Not sure but did it have the O-rings on the shock when you took it out? Usually the coilover sleeve are bigger then the shock so that it can slide down like butter. That is why they give you some O-rings to put on the shock before you slide the coilover sleeve down. Just a thought.

yup, some need o-rings to sit right. just buy the set from harbor freight for like $4 and be done:beer:

well the sleeves came off the shock with an insert thingie, but when i transfered the insert and the sleeve to the illumina, it still wasn't enough, because the illumina was thinner than the stock shock

Ground controls are made custom for the brand your running. So the sleeves are different sized for koni, tokico, oem, etc. You could try using some o-rings to make up for the space. Or possibly contact gc.

GC's are very good coilovers for street/slight comp use. Especially if you take advantage of the adjustability (unlike 99% of coil over users) and corner weigh the car.

the o rings you speak of, are they actually o rings? or are they like beefy sheets of urethane rolled up cylindrically?

I will be adding my new gc's 2 illumina's if you got a part # for your gc's I could match it, also you should go to gc's website, they have installation instructions to match what your doing.
