View Full Version : Radiator Options

So my drop in aluminum radiator is trashed from this last weekends incident with a racoon. Anyway I want some opinions.

Option 1: Buy RS Machine aluminum radiator and drop it in. Done. This would cost me about $120 total

Option 2: Buy full length oem replacement integra radiator and install it. I already at one time was going to do this, but ran into a problem with my intercooler piping. I now have a new intercooler set up which would allow this to now work. I already trimmed my core support and removed my radiator mounts. I reinstalled them in the correct spots, but never welded them back in. I just used some sheetmetal screws to reattach the lower mounts. It would be easy to remove them and reinstall them to accomodate the integra radiator. I would have to fab up some upper mounts since I just gave away the integra upper mount tabs. Also would have to find a way to use my stock fan since the mounting is different, I could do it easily though. Total cost for this would be about $170

Option 3: Same as option 2, but using an ebay aluminum radiator. something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GODSPEED-94-01-INTEGRA-DC2-B18-RACING-ALUMINUM-RADIATOR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33602QQihZ002Q QitemZ120136488339QQrdZ1
Total cost would be a little more, but would it be worth it?

Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,
-Levi

I voted #3 because #1 is pee and #2 is poop and you don't want to put either of those things in your engine bay.

ebay ones work. but I'd go with whatever has a warranty.

I'll say option 1. Just drop it in and call it a day.

i'll say #2 fab it Levi. FTW. well i didn't run turbo but i will say this. when i installed a 94-02 integra radiator in my old Ej1 i ran from NY to GA 14hours+ straight in 85* weather. as i got closer it became hotter, my gauge did not go up above the 1/4 mark. in fact it stood between it being cold and under the 1/4 mark.

dave(sillyimportracer) can vouche for this he has my old Ej1 and he just bought a new radiator. the reason i know i rock crack it and he called me to find out what radiator i ran. i was like did it fall off. he was like hell no it was done good i just need to buy a new radiator.

I threw a bid up on the radiator in option 3 and actually won it. It looks like we are going to see some fab work for this here shortly.
