It's to be expected; it is a D-series board. I don't have a problem with B's or any other engines; out of all my Honda friends, I'm the only one running a D. (It's more of a cost thing)
As long as there's no big B vs. D thread jacking debate, who cares. We all know what B's can do, but this site is not about that.

Don't get me wrong, I think B-series engines are fantastic. The point I was making is simply, my engine performs the same as a stock B18B swap when people will insist a single cam is scrap and should be swapped. "Potential" aside, price / performance is still better for a mild D build.
If you don't mind, what kinda of setup / numbers are you getting from your B18B with a "stock" cylinder head? The flow on them isn't terribly great from the factory, and neither are the cams... I can only assume large displacement bottom end / high compression? In which case, it could hardly be called a B18 if ya got it bored out.
I got love for anyone who's confident in the setup they have and the work they do. Just because someone else has more power doesn't mean anything.
There's always someone faster...

look at the picture... i have a ls/vtec set up lol. b18b bottom end, stock with 20k miles, 81mm bore 89 stroke... and a stock b16 cylinder head for the most part, other then a valve job bc the head had 100k on it. stock ports, stock b16 cams, milled .006" to make it flat again. there are only 100% honda parts in my build except for my synchro's and diff

I tuned a friends B18A with P30s, stock PR3 head with junk header... 165 whp, I think 130ish torque... hot little setup for a minimal investment.
B motors aren't too hard on the wallet, it's finding a daggum trans these days that kills ya.

Hee, so I am down about 15 wtq. Here's a stock 00 B18B dyno I dug up...
My top end is a hair better, a little bit more usable powerband.
A friend drove my car and commented on how smooth it was... chalk it up to a flat ass tq curve.

Was that pull from the same dyno you tested on? I doubt it. We can make dynos a lair, but timeslips are harder to cheat at.
I hate to tell you, but TORQUE wins races, HP wins benchraces.
Your tranny comment is the MAIN reason I've stayed SOHC. They are cheaper to fix or buy used.
Gearing wins........

Collector outlet is 2" and ground clearance SUCKS on my EF. It hangs at least 1/2" lower than my oil pan.
BUT, it's worth it. :)

Ground clearance is not too bad on my car, since I have Y8 pan... they hang low anyway.

Well, if by "untuned" you mean I don't have a chipped ecu, then yes.
I did adjust the FPR to hit my target A/F (~12.5:1-13:1). And I tweaked the timing a little bit. But it is a stock OBD2 ECU.
