I just swapped my stock intake manifold and Throttle Body (D15B7) with the Edelbrock Performer X and GSR TB. What Intake should I get for the combo that will benefit most? I have an AEM cold air that fit the stock TB (D15B7) on it right now, but what I want to know is should I get a bigger Intake Arm for a GSR or some sort? Shoot me some Ideas!

Also, I have a humming sound coming from the cold air that I didnt have before the swap. Is that Normal or is it because I need a bigger intake arm?

One more thing, on the GSR TB it's missing the vacuum line (metal tube that sticks out for rubber line) above the butterfly right below the top sensor. I had the line connected on the stock TB, right now the line is just moved to the side. Is it ok to just seal that hose? It seems like its running fine without it. Just wanted to know! Sorry for the long post! Thanks!

first.. i think that the GSR tb is too big for a d15b7, isn't it?

ok let's take a look at his answer. well, bob? *buzzer sound* wrong! thank you for posting now let get the man the right answer.

a GSR tb is 60mm it's good for a b7 but you need to portmatch you intake manni to the tb so it can be used effectively. now the b7 im is ok but the D16z6 im is better cause it flows better. and on one final note you don't get hp you get throttle response. getting a bigger came, mild port and polish helps too. a Type-R tb is 62mm and it on the borderline of too much and you need to make sure you have extensive headwork. anything beyond that is a waste 65mm and up un less you car is build for it.

Here is my mod list of what I have:

Edelbrock Performer X IM
GSR 60mm TB
AEM cold Air that fit stock B7 TB
Exospeed D16A6 stage 2 cam
Edelbrock 4-2-1 Exhaust Manifold
Stock Cat
Apexi WS2 Exhaust

Future Mods I was thinking about:

Exospeed stage 2-3 head package
Greddy Turbo Kit (still in thinking process)!
Swap the block for a stonger D-series block (havent decided what to go with yet)

I was thinking about getting a bigger intake, maybe Password JDM Powerchamber. But since I was thinking about the Greddy Turbo, I might just save for that instead.

Apexi WS2 ExhaustYou will not have to open up the IM for that TB. The intake manifold TB opening is already 62mm.
Im thinking the b7 intake will be good for this engine. No point in buying another intake since you already have one. The coupler will be a tight fit but will slip over the 60mm TB.
Your set up sounds soild. :TU: The only thing I would recommend doing is. 2.25 cat and fix the bottleneck on the WS2 catback, A head mill to bring the comp up, and TUNE TUNE TUNE. Good luck.

When saying bottleneck in the WS2, what position exactly? Or were you just talking about the cat?

a BBK tb to match it w/your im. cause since a type-r 62mm is very expensive, you second choice is a BBK tb. almost all th aftermarket im makes don't maket 62mm tb. they usally make a 60mm, then the next jump is 65mm and so forth on. i really never figure that one out. if you're going to run N/A i would advise a 2.36"(60mm piping)-2.5" exhaust. and if you're going turbo 3". now what he mines about the bottle neck is you have a huge inlet of air and a very small pipping for exhaust. you want to be able to have a smooth exiting. the 62mm tb will be very good when it comes to tuning you'll won'y have no air turblance.

It is right where the catback begins, right after the cat. You can see how it bottlenecks.

Ok so since I have a good size inlet for air, the exhaust is bottlenecking! So how does this sound? I do a high flow cat or test pipe, 2.5 in. (NA) - 3 in. (for Turbo) exhaust all the way down, and weld the WS2 Muffler to that. Would that be a decent exhaust setup? Would like to keep the WS2 muffler since its quiet and not loud at all. Thanks for the suggestions! Keep em comin!

yea if u got a high flow cat or actually get a test pipe with 2.5 for na like u stated it would open it up and flow pretty good!

Ok thanks for the input guys! I guess the next thing I do is work on the exhaust system a bit. Would 2.5 in. pipe still be good for a turbo down the road? Just want to get it right the first time!

Here is my mod list of what I have:
GSR 60mm TB.

is that gsr tb a direct bolt up no modifications neccesary for a d-series motor.

Its a direct Bolt-on, just have to port match the Intake Manifold if you stay with your stock one. The only thing was I had a vacuum line that plugged into the top of the stock B7 TB and that port wasnt on the GSR TB so I just left the vac line disconnected and the car runs fine.
